Letter to the family

Dear family, My name is Stephanie. I am a 24 year old nigerian girl currently living in France. I am jovial, hard working, trustworthy and patient. I enjoy singing, dancing, travelling and reading.

Anyone can say they love children, but what makes me unique is my firsthand experience. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my mom gave birth after 15 years, and it was an overwhelming time for my family. From the day my little sister was born until now, I’ve helped care for her and my mom, and through that, I’ve grown so much. She’s become my best friend, and I've learned patience, tolerance, and what it truly means to love unconditionally.

More than just enjoying being around kids, I understand them, support them, and naturally build strong connections with them.
I started my career as a teacher in 2022 after graduating from the department of foreign languages in University of Benin, Nigeria I've gained experience teaching children between the ages of 3-16 online and in person and it was nothing short of fulfilling.

I came to France in October 2024 as an English language assistant and I currently work with a Lycée and collège in Charente Maritime. From this I've also gained experience on how to handle children and be patient with their learning process.
I know I’d make a great au pair because I connect easily with kids and naturally become part of their world. This helps me guide them, support them, and be like a big sister they can trust. I also believe in growing from my experiences, so I always learn from my mistakes and strive to do better.

By the end of my language assistant program in April, I hope to join a family as an au pair, where I can create meaningful bonds with the children while supporting their growth. As a native English speaker, I will also help improve their English skills in a natural and engaging way, making language learning a fun part of their daily lives.

Experience

My experiences as an aupair are formed from my family values. I have two younger brothers who I helped look after when my parents were busy and when my mum gave birth in 2020 I truly learnt what it means to be an aupair because I was involved in everything aspect of raising my little sister.
My experiences as a teacher have also made me more patient and understanding towards children. I've taught children from the ages of 3-16 in schools and online and gathered various skills such as: effective communication, adaptability and creative problem solving which will be very helpful as an aupair. I would love to be an aupair abroad because I enjoy travelling, experiencing new cultures and sharing my culture. I also love learning languages and I believe that being an aupair is the best immersive process to undergo when trying to learn a new language.
