Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Juliana, but you can call me Ju (everybody does!) I'm from a very small town in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It’s a quiet place and the electricity goes out so often we've kind of made peace with the dark!

I’ve always been passionate about art and creativity, and I proudly carry the title of “enthusiastic nerd.” Whether it’s games, RPG, movies or card games, I’m all in! Over the years, I’ve tried a little bit of everything. I’ve been a dancer, a musician, a hiker, an illustrator and an English teacher. Now I’m excited about the chance to be your future au pair.

People usually say I’m calm and easy to be around. I might seem quiet at first, but that's just because I live in my head a lot (it’s a fun place!) I can’t wait to start this new chapter, get to know your culture, and become part of your family. I’d love to learn together, share stories, and maybe even teach your kids how to draw their favorite character, or say “hello” in Portuguese!

Experience

Since I was very young, I’ve always been surrounded by kids (besides myself!). For many years, I attended a dance school where I helped a teacher with the younger students, usually between 6 and 10 years old. I was the oldest student in the group, so I helped organize and guide them, especially during dance performances.

More recently, at the beginning of 2024, I became an English teacher at CNA, a language school. There, I worked with students of all ages. The youngest were around 4 years old, and the oldest were teenagers up to 16. It's been an amazing experience to help them learn and grow!
