Letter to the family

Dear host family,

I am a civil engineering student at North Carolina State University. I grew up in Chapel Hill, a fun and family-friendly college town located in central North Carolina with my parents and older brother and sister. I have been babysitting children ages one through ten since I was twelve for many families in the suburb. Planning arts and crafts, doing outdoor activities, and cooking are some of the things I enjoy about child care.

I studied abroad in Prague about two years ago and would love to take another opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture and possibly begin to learn a new language. Having moved a lot as a child, I learned to be very adaptable and to appreciate the little things in what makes a place special. I believe this can be applied to being an Au'Pair, as I understand that it is not only the experience in caring for little ones that matter but also the respect you give to the family and their culture.

Please, feel free to reach out to me if interested and I can send you my resume and references.

Experience

I grew up babysitting many children near where I lived in Chapel Hill. This is a very liberal and diverse area, which allowed me to work with families of different cultures and parenting styles. As a result, I am comfortable with monitoring technology and screen time as the parents see fit. I have also volunteered for organizations that work with children. For example, I helped teach first graders how to read through a Summer program during high school. I have also taken part in an organization that delivered lunches to children who grew up with food insecurity. A common job of mine was to help plan activities and play with them after they ate.

I stay in touch with babysitting clients, coming back to take care of their children during holidays from university. I have worked with children of all ages from 0 to 12 and have always enjoyed their company.
