Letter to the family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Fernanda, I’m 20 years old, and I’m from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’m a native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English, and have an intermediate level of Spanish. A few years ago, I had the chance to do an exchange program in London, which was an incredible experience! It helped me mature a lot and improve my English, while also awakening my interest in new cultures. I plan to communicate with your family in English, but I’m also very interested in taking a Norwegian course once I arrive to better integrate into the local culture.
I love children and have a lot of experience, mainly from being involved in the growth and care of my younger cousins and especially my little sister. In addition, I have a small dog who has been with me since I was a child, which has also contributed to my sense of responsibility and care for beings that depend on us. This experience has taught me a lot and helped me develop patience and affection for childcare. I believe that this experience and my love for children can bring special and enriching moments to your family as well.
I consider myself a very eclectic person, both in music and movies. I enjoy everything from rock to pop, from old classics to electronic music. I love exploring the world, experiencing new places and cultures, but I also really value being at home and having my quiet, peaceful moments. I believe this curiosity and balance that I’ve cultivated can be an important quality to share with children and contribute to their growth.
Another thing I love to do is cook! I worked in restaurants for a while, which increased my interest in cooking even more. I also really enjoy reading, listening to music, and learning new things, which can be fun and educational for children. Currently, I live in an apartment facing the beach, which encouraged me to develop the habit of running regularly. This routine helps me maintain balance and energy to face my day-to-day life.
I currently work in the administrative area of an electric car company here in Brazil. I have completed my education and have additional courses in administration, written communication, and nursing techniques, with knowledge of first aid. I believe these skills are very important for ensuring that children are always safe and well cared for.
At the moment, I live with my boyfriend, who has Norwegian family. Together, we decided to take this opportunity to get to know Norway better and enjoy the quality of life the country offers.
I have a valid passport and all the necessary documents to start this process. I haven’t applied for the visa yet, but I’d like to align that with you to ensure everything goes smoothly. If you’re unable to provide accommodation, I have relatives in Norway who can help with that. However, I’m open to discussing all the options to ensure everyone feels comfortable and at ease.
I consider myself an organized, dedicated, and flexible person. I like to keep a well-planned routine, but I also understand that unexpected events can happen, and I’m always willing to help when needed. I believe being an au pair will be an incredible experience, where I can learn a lot and also share the best of myself with your family.
I’m excited to get to know you better and talk more about this opportunity. If you have any questions, I’m more than happy to answer!
Best regards,
Fernanda
