Letter to the family

Hello, my name is Caroline, I am a Brazilian woman who loves traveling and getting to know people.
I used to work as a businesswoman in multinational industries but eventually I learned that did not make sense to me anymore when I understood I care more about people than factories.
I miss visiting different places I think this might be a great opportunity for me to give caring, understanding and companionship to people who need or want it as I get the chance to be abroad again.
To me, the best part of being around people who have lived longer than me is listening and learning from their experiences.
I don’t talk to elders because “I should respect them”, but because I honestly care about what they have to say.

Experience

For a year or so I was my grandmother’s caregiver once we found out about her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, until she got too sick to live in house without adapting.
Last year I made friends with my 85 year-old neighbor and I was part of her caregiver group until she sadly passed last November.
That is when I moved in with my 63 year-old mother.
For all three ladies I was responsible for the cooking and cleaning, I sat with them for tea, talks, drove them around when necessary, did their grocery shopping and helped them with medical care - reminder for pills, drives to the doctors’ appointments and hospital when needed, showers and other self care situations that were necessary.
I truly appreciate the chance of being able to help them out when they needed it.
