Dear Family,

It’s a pleasure to meet you! My name is Matheus Cardoso , but you can call me Matteo. I am 24 years old and from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I grew up in a large family as the oldest of four siblings. From an early age, I took on important responsibilities, helping to care for the loves of my life—my younger siblings—while my parents, both doctors, dedicated themselves to their careers. This experience taught me to be patient, organized, and skilled at working with different personalities and age groups, qualities I consider essential for an Au Pair.

I chose this program because I believe it combines two of my passions: caring for children and intercultural learning. During my time abroad in Canada and Portugal, I learned to adapt to new cultures and embrace diversity. These international experiences strengthened my sense of responsibility and my ability to form meaningful connections, something I hope to bring to my relationship with your family. I believe I can make a positive difference in your children’s lives by providing a nurturing and safe environment infused with creativity. As someone who has always valued education and personal growth, I see every moment with children as an opportunity for mutual learning. Furthermore, I speak English fluently, have advanced Spanish skills, and love teaching and learning new languages.

I am a responsible, proactive, and empathetic person. My professional experiences in customer service and volunteering at CVV (Centro de Valorização da Vida – a Brazilian emotional support organization) have helped me develop strong communication and organizational skills. These abilities, combined with my love for new adventures and challenges, make me confident that I can positively contribute to your family’s daily life.

Experience

Embora eu não tenha sido Au Pair formalmente, minha experiência no cuidado de crianças é extensa. Cresci como o irmão mais velho de quatro, o que naturalmente me deu responsabilidades no cuidado e supervisão dos meus irmãos. Ao longo dos anos, fui envolvido em diversas tarefas, como ajudar nas lições de casa, supervisionar brincadeiras e garantir que estivessem sempre seguros e bem cuidados. Essas experiências me ensinaram a importância da paciência, organização e adaptação, além de desenvolver minha capacidade de lidar com diferentes idades e personalidades.

Além disso, durante os períodos em que vivi em Portugal e principalmente no Canadá, tive a oportunidade de me integrar a famílias e comunidades, o que me permitiu atuar de forma informal no cuidado de crianças em contextos culturais diferentes. Essas experiências internacionais ampliaram minha visão sobre como criar um ambiente positivo e estimulante para as crianças, respeitando suas necessidades individuais e culturais.
