Letter to the family

***IN PROCESS TO GET DRIVER'S LICENSE***

Hello future host family, I hope you are well ?. My name is Thuyla Evelyn, so u can call me Thuy or Elyn, I am 18yo (19 in November), i'm Brazilian and live in Rio de Janeiro with my grandma and my dog (Thor).

I have lived with children all my life and I know how important early childhood is in our lives. I want to be able to teach children about little things about my culture, watch them learn and discover about life and be able to be part of things that make a difference in their lives, even if it's for as little time as a year.

I have intermediate English which I intend to have the opportunity to improve my conversation level as I have learned on my own by watching movies, series and listening to international music. I want learn more languages as possible.

I like to be helpful and help everyone around me. I can cook everyday food from my culture (I can learn to make food from your culture too), snacks for children (i have experience in Brazilian buffet for children) and I can do light task in the house (being talked about before tasks).

If u have any doubts, please contact me

Experience

like I said, I've always been close to children.

At church I helped take care of the children while their parents watched the preaching.

In 2021 I lived with two brothers (Ester 5/6yold and Samuel 2/3yold) for 8 months sleeping from Thursday to Saturday (sometimes even Monday) at their house.

Our routine was basically waking up, preparing breakfast, they ate watching TV and then we played ( if Ester didn't have homework), close to school time I would get the eldest one ready and we had lunch.

In the afternoon it was just me and the youngest, we usually did what he wanted at the time, after a while playing he would help me prepare the snack and then he would eat while watching tv, when he finished eating it was time to draw while I tidy some things in the house.

On weekends we arranged something that the two liked to do, we already had a doll party (Samuel helped me prepare all the decorations for the party while Ester arranged her doll daughters and decided what we would eat at the party), with the dolls we also did it picnics.

A few times we went to mall playgrounds and to inflatable toys and on the bouncy park near our house.
Some weekends when we didn't go out, we also made camp in the living room, where we hung several sheets on top and covered the floor with pillows and mattresses and played storytelling (one of the children started, the other continued and I told the end) when we didn't do that, we ended the day with movie night, the kids chose the movies they wanted to see (in the kids tab on netflix, pre-selected by parents and added to the list), I made popcorn and we watched until the kids fell asleep.

Now their parents have reduced their working hours and they don't work weekends anymore, so they only call me when they want to go out for a date with friends or go out at night.
