Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Wiktoria, but most people call me Wiki as it fits my personality more: fun, smiling and always ready to spend time with friends. I was raised in Manchester, England which allowed me to get to know the English culture very well. I completed my school education with good grades, and I am currently embarking on a new adventure, more specifically a gap year. At the moment, I reside in Krakow, Poland as I want to learn more about my identity (I was born in Poland and my family is Polish.) In Poland, I teach English to 5 and 7-year-olds who make me laugh every lesson with their childhood enthusiasm. I have a little sister, Hanna, and teaching children her age makes me very happy because I get to tell her stories when we meet about my classroom experiences. In my spare time, I also volunteer with disabled children which allows me to reflect on how I can serve those who don't always necessarily have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams by themselves. My hobbies include drawing, cooking and listening to a lot of music. As an au pair, I want to take care of children just as I have taken care of my little sister since she was born whilst also learning about a new fascinating culture. I am always willing to chat and laugh with people, no matter their age, gender or identity!

Experience

I have a range of experience with kids. A few years ago, I volunteered at my local school where I took care of children at an after school club (aged 5-12.) My volunteering job included playing games, talking and helping other teachers with a group of children who had to wait for their parents after school ended. Nevertheless, ever since the age of 12, I have taken care of my 6-year-old sister. I often have to take care of her a whole day, as my parents are working. This means I wake her up, make her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, play with her, and put her to bed. During the summer I did a program called Angloville where I spend 3 weeks in different countries whilst teaching English to children (aged 12-18) during summer camps. This meant that I communicated with children of different ages, making friends with them and teaching them English in the process. Currently, I teach English to 5 and 7-year-olds as a native speaker. This includes 1-hour lessons, where we speak English but also do a lot of arts and crafts! I also volunteer at a Center for Disabled Childre, which means I have experience working with children that have special needs
