Letter to the family

Hi :)
My name is Sarah Monique. But Samy is enough. I am 23 years old and live with my parents in the house. I'm very creative, inquisitive and rather quiet at first, but I still love getting to know new people. Some of my strengths are that I am very goal oriented, independent and have no problem asking for help or taking criticism to improve myself. Punctuality, keeping agreements, trust, respect and privacy are important to me. My weaknesses, on the other hand, are darkness, heights and when things don't go as planned. Order and cleanliness are very important to me.

Skills such as cleaning, keeping things tidy, doing laundry and organizing a daily routine are no problem for me. On the other hand, I still have a hard time ironing, especially shirts. Cooking is not one of my strengths either. However, I am learning this from my father, but I still have a long way to go.
I hope to finish my driver's license this year (2023) and gain experience before I start as an au pair / nanny (2024).

Professionally, I have been working in the food trade since 2018 as a butcher shop saleswoman. I'm still interested in this job, but I'm currently continuing my education. I'm doing a business administration course. I'm also doing my trainer's license at the same time.
I don't know where I'm going after that at the moment.

I want to be an au pair/nanny because I want to see the world. Experiencing cultures up close is a big wish of mine.
In my opinion it is easier to get to know something through the eyes of the child. In a way, you put yourself on the child's eye level when you have so much to do with them. This way you experience the everyday life of the children 100%.
I love working with children and when they are so happy their eyes shine like stars.
Of course, I don't take this lightly. "Working" with children or mastering everyday life with them is certainly not an easy task. It's a big responsibility that I'm willing to take on. Give them a hand and become part of the family.

I am happy to be part of family life. I realize it's related to assignments. I like to blend in. I'm always willing to help and look forward to tasks that allow me to grow.

Experience

So far I haven't had any experience as an au pair. Unfortunately. Since I have been working on building up a solid footing so far, unfortunately it did not come about. However, I have experience with child care. My mother was a childminder for about 10 years and I regularly helped her with the children, so I was able to learn a lot about dealing with children.
Due to my relatively large relatives, I mostly had the task of looking after my cousins, nephews and nieces as well as my little brother.

I think the best way to learn about the culture is to be there. You can get as much information and read as you want. The experience is what remains.
The people you get to know while being an au pair, whether as friends or a second family that you appreciate, will give you so much without even realizing it. Just like the au pair's stay with the family. So many impressions are exchanged and cultures meet, which is totally natural and important these days.
We learn from each other. And you never stop learning.
