Letter to the family

Hello, I am Hannah, 19 years old. I come from a very small village near Munich, Bavaria, Germany. I am currently working as a nursing assistant in a retirement home, but I would like to do my training as a nurse soon. In the summer of 2024 I worked for about 2 months in a summer camp for kids in Texas, USA. I loved working there and really enjoyed my time. That's the reason why I want to become an au pair, I can't imagine anything better than spending the whole day with children, cooking with them, painting, doing crafts, sports and trying out lots of new things. I'm also very spontaneous and super open to new cultures and religions! The summer camp where I worked, for example, was Jewish and it was a really great experience to learn so much about Judaism and its customs.
I am also very patient, emphatic and helpful due to my profession. I would be very happy if I could support you with the care of your children in the near future!

Experience

I worked with children 24/7 twice for 24 days at the summer camp, so I slept together in a cabin and spent the whole day together. I had one hour off per day and spent the rest with the children. So minus this one hour, 9 hours of sleep (where I was still in a room with the children and they were always allowed to wake me up if something happened), I have around 672 hours of childcare experience from summer camp alone. I also worked as a nursing assistant for 3 weeks on a hospital ward with children suffering from cancer and did a 2 week internship in a kindergarten. I have also looked after my little cousins (2,5,7 years old at the time) in my private life - sometimes overnight.

My main motivation for being an au pair in a foreign country is that I love getting to know new cultures and customs. Be it a new religion, the customs of the country or rituals that other families have. I am really very open-minded and always ready to learn and try out new things!
