Letter to the family

My name is María, and I am 23 years old, I am from Mexico. Since I was a child, I have been driven by a deep love for learning, exploring new cultures, and caring for others. I’ve gone through many changes, but my values, ideals, and dreams have remained strong since I was a child. These values have guided me in my journey of personal and professional growth.

I understand that being an Au Pair is a job, but I also believe it is a unique experience where you can truly become part of a family, sharing traditions and creating connections that make being far from home feel more comforting. I enjoy working with children because I love seeing them grow, learn, and explore the world around them. It brings me joy to teach them new things and support their development, by helping them with homework, playing, or simply being there for them.

I would like you to consider hosting me because I am a responsible and adaptable girl who genuinely cares about the well-being of those around me. I am sensitive to people’s emotions and always try to create a positive and supportive environment. My background in International Business has also given me a strong ability to communicate effectively, organize tasks, and handle responsibilities efficiently. My love for languages has has allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures and learn more about them, which I find fascinating. I believe this is something I can also share with the children if they are interested in learning a new language.

I believe that I qualify for this position because of my experience caring for children, my ability to adapt to new environments, and my strong passion for guiding and supporting children’s. I have spent years developing skills that are essential for childcare, such as patience, problem-solving, and being kind with the kids.

Experience

Since I was 17, I have had the opportunity to care for children in different situations. My first experience was looking after my older cousins' kids, where I learned to create fun and engaging activities while ensuring their safety. Later, I started helping workers at my mother’s business by taking care of their children, Mariam, an 8 years old girl, and Iker, a 13 years old boy. However, my most meaningful experience has been with my younger brother, who is 18 years younger than me. I took on a significant role in his care, supporting my mother full-time during his first year. Over time, I have helped him with his education, created fun ways to help him learn, and guided him through different stages of his childhood. These experiences have allowed me to develop patience, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

The main reason I want to become an Au Pair is that, through my travels abroad, I’ve realized that the best way to truly experience a culture is by sharing daily life with native speakers and becoming part of their routine. One of my biggest dreams is to travel while creating meaningful connections filled with kindness and care. When my younger brother was born, I discovered how pure and innocent children are. They welcome you into their world so easily, making you part of their daily life and treating you like a friend. That’s where my two biggest passions come together, exploring the world while building strong and loving bonds, just like a family.
