Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Berta, I’m 21 years old and currently finishing my degree in Early Childhood Education, which I will complete in June 2025. Taking care of children and helping them grow is not just something I enjoy — it’s truly my passion and vocation.

Right now, I’m on an Erasmus exchange in the Netherlands, living in Zwolle. Here, I’m immersing myself in a new culture, improving my English, and doing a minor in outdoor education, which includes working with local schools to explore how outdoor spaces support children’s development. It’s been a beautiful learning experience, both personally and professionally.

After I graduate, I would love to spend a year as an au pair to continue discovering new cultures and live an enriching experience with a loving family — all while doing what I love most: working with children.

I consider myself a responsible, patient, and organized person. I have experience working with kids of different ages and I’m always ready to play, support, guide, and connect with them. I’m full of energy, creativity, and warmth — and I would be excited to become a positive influence in your children’s daily lives.

Experience

I've never been an au pair before. Nevertheless, working with children has always felt natural and meaningful to me. Over the past few years, I’ve built a range of experiences that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

I’ve worked as a babysitter for several families, caring for children of different ages. This has taught me how to create a safe, fun, and loving environment in the home, as well as how to adapt to each child’s personality and needs.

I’ve also taught English to preschoolers, using songs, games, and creative activities to make learning fun and engaging. This experience showed me how much young children can absorb through play, and how important it is to approach teaching with patience and joy.

For the past three summers, I’ve worked at “el Casal d’Estiu” (a local summer camp), where I helped lead group games, workshops, and outdoor activities for children. It was such a rewarding job that really strengthened my teamwork, planning, and communication skills — especially when managing large groups of active, excited kids!

And of course, through my university degree, I’ve completed several internships in schools, where I’ve supported classroom learning and observed how professional educators guide children's development. These internships confirmed that this is exactly the field I want to dedicate myself to.

Each of these experiences has taught me something valuable, and together, they’ve prepared me to be a caring, creative, and responsible au pair.

I want to become an au pair because it offers a unique and affordable opportunity to live in a different country—especially in the UK, which I’ve always loved. I'm excited about the idea of experiencing life in London, getting to know its culture, traditions, and everyday lifestyle from a local perspective.

One of my main motivations is to gain experience with children in a new and different context from what I'm used to. I believe this will help me grow both personally and professionally. I’m eager to build strong relationships with the children and the host family, and to support them with care, creativity, and responsibility.

Travelling and exploring the world has always been a big passion of mine. Being an au pair gives me the chance to combine that with something meaningful—helping a family, learning from a new culture, and challenging myself to grow outside of my comfort zone.
