Letter to the family

To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Jasmine, and I want to become an Au Pair and Live-in Help. My main goal in becoming an Au Pair is to gain work experience with young people. My aspirations have always lied in childcare, specifically teaching. I genuinely believe that one caring, invested teacher can heavily impact the direction in which a young person's life leads. Therefore, becoming an Au Pair is not only a logical, but also an exciting step on the way to becoming a teacher. You should host me as I feel that my skills are best suited for the care of and mentorship of young people. I am highly adaptable as I have moved countries six times over the course of my life. I am patient with good communication skills as I come from a family of six and have two younger siblings. Multitasking and time management are two of my strong suits, as is evidenced by the many extracurricular activities I participated in during my high school years, including theatre, Model United Nations, football, and more. I qualify for this position as I have a surplus of work experience caring for those younger than me. I previously volunteered as a tutor for elementary school students, have seven years of babysitting experience, and I myself have two aforementioned younger siblings that I aided my single mother in raising. These are only a few of the many reasons I have that will allow me to reach my full potential as an Au Pair and prove me to be an asset to your family.

Kind Regards,
Jasmine

Experience

Relevant experiences I have include that I previously volunteered as a tutor for elementary school students and that I myself have two younger siblings. For my tutoring role, dealing with children is a fairly difficult occupation, but this difficulty creates a work satisfaction that is all the more rewarding. My position allowed me to develop important problem solving and communication skills that I have used when helping my friends study or even to diffuse an escalated situation. As for my siblings, the age gap between my sister and I is nine years while the age gap between my brother and I is ten, so I practically helped my single mother raise them. Being fresh out of high school, I can also easily relate to those in my age range since I myself was in their position not so long ago. The reasoning for why I want to Au Pair abroad is simple: I am a huge advocate for cultural exchange. I myself come from a varied and diverse background. My mother is from Moldova, my father is from Sudan, and I was born in Saudi Arabia. Since being born, I have moved countries consistently every few years, and I do not plan on stopping any time soon.
