When it comes to experience with children I have at least a decade. I grew up with an older sister who required lots of attention from my parents which meant I was often in charge. I have been preparing meals and helping kids to bed for as long as I can remember. As soon as I was ten years old i began to babysit for families in my neighborhood. I couldn't name them all if I tried. At twelve I worked as a nanny in the mornings for a family that needed me to prepare their children for school in the morning. This included making breakfast, preparing lunch bags, getting them dressed, and making sure they got to their ride safely. I did smaller nannying jobs during each summer.
More professionally, as I have mentioned a couple times, I was a daycare aid and preschool teacher for a year. I had to move to back home where I now work as a substitute teacher and an elementary school aid at a charter school near my home. Each kid is a new experience and there is always so much to learn from them and their lives.

I want to become an au pair because I wan to gain some international experience with kids. I also would like to travel and I think this is a good way to explore and work at the same time. It is sorta a two birds with one stone situation for me. I have have been considering this for a couple years but this year I am going to take action.
