Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

I hope you are doing well. My name is Adam, and I am thrilled to apply for the au pair position with your family. Though I currently live in Melbourne, Australia, I am ready and eager to relocate to Europe immediately. I hold both Australian and European citizenship, and I am fluent in three languages—Persian, English, and Japanese. With over five years of experience working with children, I believe I possess the skills and enthusiasm necessary to make a meaningful contribution to your family.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine, and over the years, I have gained a wealth of experience as both a tutor and a caregiver. I’ve had the privilege of helping children with their studies, coaching them in sports, and providing general support in various childcare roles. I find great joy in fostering a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow. Becoming an au pair is a natural next step for me, as it combines my love for working with children with my excitement about cultural exchange.

Although I currently live in Australia, I am more than ready to move to Europe right away and begin this new chapter. I believe the opportunity to live and work within your family would be an enriching experience for both me and your children. My adaptability, positive attitude, and eagerness to embrace new cultures will make it easy for me to integrate into your family dynamic, and I look forward to the chance to learn from each other.

I am a highly active person, which allows me to keep up with the energy of children, whether it’s through outdoor activities, sports, or simply spending time together. In addition, I hold a full driving license, which will allow me to assist with school runs, errands, or any other transportation needs your family may have. I also bring language skills in Persian, English, and Japanese, which I hope can be an exciting addition to your children’s learning and cultural experiences.

I am confident that my extensive childcare experience, combined with my drive to create a positive, caring environment, will make me an asset to your family. I am eager to contribute to your household, help with daily tasks, and be a supportive presence in your children’s lives. The opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture while offering my skills and enthusiasm is something I truly look forward to.

Thank you for considering my application. I would love the opportunity to discuss how I can support your family and be a part of your children's growth and development. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to arrange an interview.

Warm regards,
Adam

Experience

I have two years of experience as an au pair in Tokyo, where I lived with a Japanese-Australian family of five. During my time with them, I worked every day, providing childcare, assisting with schoolwork, and helping with daily household tasks. I was responsible for the well-being and development of their child, including organizing activities, preparing meals, and ensuring that their routine was smooth and consistent. I truly enjoyed being an integral part of their family and helping to create a positive and nurturing environment for their child.

My time as an au pair in Tokyo was incredibly rewarding. I was able to connect deeply with the family and learn about their unique cultural traditions, while also sharing aspects of my own culture. This experience allowed me to develop important skills in child care, problem-solving, and communication. I also learned how to adapt to different family dynamics and environments, which helped me grow both personally and professionally.

I would like to become an au pair abroad again because I am passionate about childcare, cultural exchange, and the opportunity to explore new countries. Living in a new country gives me the chance to fully immerse myself in a different culture while continuing to contribute to the development and well-being of children. I love the idea of becoming a trusted part of a family and helping children grow and learn in a supportive and engaging environment. I believe the experience I’ve gained so far makes me well-equipped to take on this role again, and I’m excited for the opportunity to build new relationships and learn from another family’s unique dynamics.

I would be happy to provide references from my previous host family to support my application.
