Letter to the family
Dear family,
My name is Anna, I’m an Italian 22 years old girl. I was studying medicine at the university of Bologna but realized that it wasn't the right path for me, so i stopped my university carreer and i am now looking for a job. I was an au pair in Ireland last summer, in a family of four with two boys aged 2 and 4 and I loved it so so much!
I come from a big family, I’m the oldest of four siblings, I have a sister and two brothers.
I love kids and spending time with them, as I’ve been around them my whole life. First of all, I’ve always helped my parents in managing my siblings, especially my youngest brother who is 10 years younger than me, from giving him bottles, changing him and making him fall asleep when he was little, to now helping him with his homework or bringing him to basketball practice. I’ve always babysat kids: children who lived in the same building as I did when I was younger, but also kids at the beach of the seaside town where my family spends the summers. In particular, two summers ago I used to be the babysitter for a family with a boy and a girl aged 5 and 7, I would sometimes spend even 12 hours a day with them; I would often wake them up in the morning and put them to bed at night, taking care of everything in between: meals, homework, sports training, the kids hygiene, home management, ...
As I said I was an au pair last summer, the parents were often away for work so i spent a long time alone with the kids: preparing them for school, meals, naps, playing, showers,...
I’m an independent and resourceful girl and I’ve been living alone for a few years now, since my hometown is far from university. I would describe myself as kind, calm, sociable, generous and very patient. Sometimes I can be quite lazy but if I have to do something I will definitely get it done.
In my free time I like hanging out with my friends or my sister, going to the cinema, reading, listening to music and exercising, especially running or swimming.
You may have seen in the form that I’m a vegetarian: please don't worry about it, I can still cook meat for your kids if you want me to, as I’ve been doing so for years with my family, and cook something different for myself.
I know English at a C1 level and Spanish at a B2 level. I have a PBLSD certificate (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation, adult and pediatric).
I would love to have the opportunity to stay with you and your kids, as it would make my dream of living abroad come true, helping me improve my language knowledge and getting to know new cultures and habits. I believe this experience could really make me a better person, I’m eager to learn from you and support your children’s growth in every possible way.
Thank you for considering me, I really look forward to the chance of joining your family.
Best regards,
Anna
