Letter to the family

Hi! I'm Camille, an incoming freshman at Stanford University, hoping to major in International Relations and East Asian Studies with a focus on China. I am a native English speaker, having lived in the U.S. for the past 19 years.

I am currently taking a gap year, or a year off between high school and college. During my gap year, I have worked as an online English tutor to Korean students abroad. I have over 8 months of experience formally teaching English to all age ranges. I tutor through the company Ringle, and have achieved the status of of “Golden Star Tutor” based on consistent 5 star ratings and positive reviews. I was also a nationally competitive debater in high school, and can aid greatly in speaking practice and vocabulary.

I hope to become an Au Pair and Live-In Tutor so that I can continue teaching English while immersing myself in Chinese culture and society. I have been self-studying Mandarin for the past 5 months and would love the opportunity to practice my speaking skills with my host family!

I think you should host me because of my formal experience teaching English and my passion and excitement for learning Chinese. I am more than happy to help teach and also learn more about Chinese culture!
