Letter to the family

I am hoping that becoming an au pair will be the start of a new chapter in my life. I plan to approach this experience with an open-mind as I have never worked in this field before. I hope to eventually fit in as an extended family member, not just an employee.

You can expect a responsible, polite and courteous young lady to come into your home and not only care for/ look after your children but also bond with them and to be a positive role model for them. I hope to become an invaluable member of the household, to learn the children’s likes and dislikes, to extend your parenting style and continue to offer them routine and structure whilst taking the pressure off so you can attend to your day to day demands.

I am more than happy to help around the house as necessary whether that be house work, shopping, or helping the children with homework etc..
I have a full clean UK driving licence and a cheerful, positive disposition.

Experience

Family is an integral part of my life and I spend a lot of my time with them. I have a very large extended family that spreads from England to the Netherlands - and love nothing more than caring and playing with my cousins. I have two young cousins who live very close to me. As my aunt owns a business in our area I spend the majority of my summer looking after them, arranging play-dates and creating activities to keep them occupied throughout the unpredictable English summer weather.

I have spent time volunteering for a local private school and supporting the running of their after school and holiday clubs. The children’s ages ranged from 3 to 12 years. I also did a work experience placement in a public primary school in a year 4 class for which I received outstanding feedback.

I am looking forward to working with new families and opening up opportunities never previously available to me in Cornwall.
