Letter to the family
Hi!
My name is Selma. I am 22 years old and I live in Stockholm. I am planning to spend my summer in France, and am so excited to learn more about the country and its culture! My dad is french and I try to visit my family in their village in the region on Lot-de-Garonne in the summers. I´ve never really explored the big cities, and therefore my dream to find a job with a family where I could both provide needed support, form important relationships and explore the city with the same excitement as the child I spend my time with!
A little bit about me, I`m very social and would definitely describe myself as a "people person". I love being around people, both professionally and in my own time. My family is the most important thing in the world to me, and I always want, and pride myself in, to help and support everyone around me. Growing up in a big family with many siblings, in both Sweden and France, I have learned a lot about being adaptable. On my mothers side, which is the family I´ve grown up with, I´m the eldest. That has taught me a great amount about responsibility, taking care of a household, being a leader and what it means to take care of a family, and its a something I carry with me in everything I do.
In my spare time I love being outdoors, especially taking long walks and beach-days, and hanging out with friends. I love movies, fashion, music, drawing and crocheting. I love anything creative that involves making something with my own hands, remaking things and making things beautiful.
I have worked as a nanny for a family with two sons, 3 and 12 years old, a couple nights a week in the past, which was such an enriching experience that I very much cherish. I also have very close relationship with my now 11 year old sister, and have been picking her up from school, making dinner, helping her with homework and putting her to bed at night, since I was around her age.
I love children especially for the way they approach life with such eagerness and curiosity, and that they express all emotions with such strength. I also love adventure and learning new things, and I get so inspired by children and their eagerness. Children have such unique thoughts and perspectives, and I truly appreciate not only teaching them, but learning with them.
I would love to be your au pair because I know your child and I will play outdoors, discover and experience things that are new to the both of us with so much shared joy.
Taking care of people, being firm and responsible, but also gentle and kind, comes naturally to me. And a part from playing and having fun, I really enjoy just getting cozy, reading a book, singing a lullaby or doing homework together. I would love to be your au pair and just be a part of your family, like a big sister.
As for my additional "competences", I speak swedish and english fluently, and great french. I have worked a lot in hospitality that has included a lot of managing food and cleaning. I am also very familiar with pets and have three at home, including one of my own.
Thank you for reading my letter, and I am so excited to see you this summer!
