Letter to the family

Is your family open to having an older "granny" nanny? My own plans to teach English abroad are on hold, and I would love to spend time - again - with a lovely family who needs that extra person. Though I am experienced with children of all ages, I am particularly looking at families with school-aged kids, as I am educated and have done private tutoring in the past (maths, English, foreign language), so I can help with homework and being a positive female presence.

I'm musically-inclined -- I swim/love being in water, still ride a bike, but I don't run anymore because of a stiff knee. I'm also a safe & experienced driver.

I'm one of those natural homemakers - quite organized with respect to both people's schedules and things - so I easily take on some day-to-day tasks, such as tidying up, laundry, good cooking, grocery shopping, etc. I agree that it's important for kids to pick up after themselves and have responsibilities, and I support _all_ kids to be self-responsible in an age-appropriate way.

Experience

Returning to the US to help look after my father (now deceased), I have accepted assignments with private families spanning toddlers to (expatriate) families with school-aged children to elderly, with and without dementia, including in the United Kingdom.

I also have experience with young adults with differing mental disability, and one of my strengths with respect to this is connecting people (back) with the larger community and family and friends.

I see myself as "structured and positive" and enjoy doing a lot in the background so that families may have quality time with each other.
