Letter to the family
My name is Rachael, and I’m a 21 year-old Australian with a passion for working with children, exploring new cultures, and embracing new experiences. I have spent these past 6 months away from home in Canada, Mexico and Vietnam and I am eager to come home to reconnect with family and friends and hopefully a lovely Au Pair Host family.
Over the past few years, I’ve worked as a tutor both for myself and a company, supporting students across a range of ages and learning styles. I have worked with special needs children, children of all ages and have developed great relationships with these families and children through helping them achieve their learning goals in an empathetic considerate manner. I take my role as a tutor and nanny very seriously as I understand I can be a role model for these children. This role has helped me develop patience, creativity, and strong communication skills—qualities I believe are essential for any successful au pair. Whether it’s helping with homework, organizing fun activities, or simply being a supportive presence, I genuinely enjoy helping young people grow and feel confident. I am blessed to have been apart of so many children's learning journeys and cannot wait to immerse myself in an Au Pair role. I have also been a babysitter for many local families in Avalon Beach, and have looked after kids for numerous years developing a deep bond with them. I am more than happy to fulfil roles such as cooking, cleaning, bedtime/morning routine, drop off pick up and homework. I am also on board with taking on more or little responsibilities as needed and want to make your busy lives as a family as smooth as possible. I am kind, compassionate, witty, creative and adventurous.
Becoming an au pair is the perfect blend of my love for children and my desire to immerse myself in a new culture. I’m excited about the opportunity to become part of a family, contribute to your children’s everyday lives, and learn from you in return. I see this experience not just as a job, but as a meaningful cultural exchange.
You should host me because I’m mature, adaptable, and genuinely enthusiastic about joining your family. I have experience balancing responsibility with fun, and I always bring a positive, caring attitude to the environments I’m in—whether that’s a classroom, a campsite, or a busy home.
With my childcare experience, my strong sense of responsibility, and my warm, outgoing personality, I believe I’d be a great fit for your family. I have a valid police check, WWCC, basic understanding of first aid and CPR (did SRC training in my youth) and a drivers license.
Thank you for considering my application. I would love to get to know more about your family and your expectations for your next au pair. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Warmly,
Rachael
