Dear Host Family,

My name is Heidi, and I’m a 17-year-old currently completing my final year of high school. I come from a large and lively family, with two younger brothers (aged 11 and 13), several cousins ranging from toddlers to teenagers, and I’ve always played an active role in helping care for them. Being the eldest child, I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience with children, often stepping into a supportive, parent-like role while my parents were busy. These experiences have taught me patience, responsibility, and maturity from a young age.

I’m a very active and enthusiastic person, and sport plays a big part in my life. I currently play hockey for my school’s 1st XI team, the Taranaki U18 Women’s team, the Taranaki Intercity Women’s team, and a Division 1 club side. I also play cricket for my school’s 1st XI and have recently become involved in rugby. Beyond sports, I love being in or near the ocean—diving, swimming, or just enjoying the water with my family. I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with those around me.

At school, I’ve achieved NCEA Levels 1 and 2 and am now working toward Level 3. My favourite subjects are Health, Sports Science, and English, where I consistently receive high grades. I also take on leadership roles—I’m a house captain at school, the deputy head girl of my boarding hostel, and the coach of our 3rd XI hockey team.

Looking ahead, my biggest dreams are to travel the world, play sport at a high level—possibly representing my country—and pursue a career where I can help people. I’m currently exploring paths such as family law, the police force, or becoming a paediatrician.

I’m a cheerful and humorous person who loves to laugh and bring joy to others. I’d love to be part of a warm, active family full of love, fun, and energy. I’m excited about the opportunity to support your family and share new experiences together.
