Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Corinne, and I’m an 18-year-old living in Switzerland, my nationalities include British, Australian and Swiss! currently I am finishing the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. I’ll be graduating in June-2026, and I’m looking for a meaningful and enriching way to spend the summer — ideally from June to August — before starting university in September. Becoming an Au Pair and Nanny feels like the perfect opportunity for me to grow, contribute, and connect with a new culture through family life.

I’ve been babysitting regularly for the past five years, caring for children ranging from 7 months to 10 years old. Through this experience, I’ve learned how to adapt to different age groups, support kids through their routines, and keep them safe, entertained, and engaged. Whether it’s reading bedtime stories, playing outside, preparing snacks, or comforting a fussy baby — I’ve done it all with patience, energy, and a smile. These years of hands-on experience have made me confident in my ability to support your family in a loving and responsible way.

What draws me most to being an Au Pair is the chance to be part of a family’s everyday life in a new country. I’m excited to immerse myself in a different culture, build meaningful relationships, and exchange traditions — and maybe even teach your kids a few fun words in my native language. I’m curious, open-minded, and excited to learn from you as much as I hope your family might learn from me.

I would be honored to join your household as an Au Pair. I’m reliable, warm, and proactive — always happy to lend a hand around the house, help with homework, or plan a creative activity to keep the kids smiling. The IB programme has taught me to be organized and responsible, and I’m used to balancing tasks while staying calm under pressure. You can trust that I’ll treat your home with care and your children with kindness.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I’d love the opportunity to introduce myself further and learn more about your family. I hope to become a trusted, joyful part of your summer — and maybe a lifelong family friend.

Warmest regards

Experience

Although I haven’t officially worked as an Au Pair abroad yet, I have five years of babysitting experience with children ranging from 7 months to 10 years old. During this time, I’ve gained a lot of hands-on knowledge about caring for kids of different ages — from feeding and naptimes for babies to homework help, games, and routines for school-aged children. I’ve learned how to be patient, creative, and responsible, and how to adapt to each child’s unique personality and needs.

What excites me about becoming an Au Pair abroad is the chance to combine my love for working with children with the opportunity to experience life in a new country. I want to learn more about another culture, language, and way of life — not just as a tourist, but by becoming part of a local family and truly living the day-to-day experience. I believe this kind of cultural exchange is a beautiful way to grow as a person, while also bringing something meaningful to the lives of others.

I’m excited by the idea of helping a family, forming genuine bonds with the children, and learning from them just as much as they might learn from me. Whether it’s sharing stories from my own background, supporting your daily routines, or joining in your family traditions, I’d be honored to be part of it.
