Letter to the family

Dear host family,

My name is Lilian Valeria, but I prefered to be called Valeria.
I am Mexican girl of 25 years old and I live in Mexico City with family.
My mother's name is Irma, she is a retired woman who worked her entire life as a kinder garden teacher. My father's name is Carlos. and he runs a family business of technical services and electronics in my city.
I have 2 siblings. The oldest one’s name is Karla and she is 33 years old. My brothers name is Carlos and he is 30 years old, making me the youngest of us.

I would describe my family as really close and supportive. Also I have many family relatives. My father comes from a family of 5 siblings and my mother from a family of 6 siblings.

I have in total 16 cousins and 8 nephews and I love to be part of a big family, specially I love to share time with children, and I have been always taking care of my younger cousins and nephews.

As I mentioned before, my mom was her entire life a kindergarden teacher, and since I was a child she would take me during my holiday to her work to help her to take care and play with her little students of 4-6 years old. So I can say I have always been surrounded by children and I love it!

I graduated recently from university and got a bachelor certificate in Chemical Engineering in Mexico. For my studies I had to move to Monterrey, the North of Mexico during 5 years. For me, living away from home was one of the most important decisions in my life, but taught me to appreciate many things and to be more responsible and mature as person.

One of my hobbies is travelling. I love to get to know with different cultures and to visit diferent countries.
During university I had the opportunity to volunteer in an elementary school in Cali, Colombia as a Spanish teacher in one of the most dangerous villages of the city, and my activities with children were very related with ethics and moral values against crime, to help children to stay away of gangs which is pretty common in that village. All of these activities were with games, songs and fairytales.

Later on I also applied to volunteer in an International Kindergarden project in Bratislava, Slovakia as an English teacher in a private kindergarden and this experience was priceless because I did not speak any Slovak word, and I learned that love has no language. During this volunteering besides teaching English, I was side by side with children all day. This means, from early morning we would have breakfast together, then have english activities, after music class, followed by lunchbreak, nap time and art class. And I would help every child I could to enjoy and have a great time together specially when they were sad because mom/dad left to work.

I consider myself as a very motherly, responsible and loving person when it comes to children, and this year I have decided to fulfill my dream of being Au pair in Germany.

I understand the language and I’d love to improve my german, that’s the reason why I’d love to have the opportunity to take care of your children while I also learn more about your culture and language.
If you would like your children to learn Spanish or English, I am a very patient person to teach them and also you as parents, I could teach some of my language and traditions. Also I am very good with maths and if its the case, I'd me glad to help your children with homework and studies.

Besides childcare experience, I also love reading books, dancing, and watching movies, traveling and learning about other cultures, meeting new people, talking and sharing experiences, going out with friends or preparing lunch or dinner with my family or with my friends too. I like cooking and I find very entertaining teaching children how to prepare desserts.

I am so excited with the opportunity to know you better and to be a member of your family. I hope you had fun reading my letter and knowing a bit more about me.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Liebe Grüsse,

Valeria.
