Letter to the family
Hello! My name is Miyu (pronounced like me-you), a 21-year-old woman born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in Toronto, Canada, New York, USA, and Tokyo, Japan. When I ask my family and friends about the traits I embody, they often describe me as reliable, caring, positive, open-minded, hardworking, and passionate. I am someone who is eager to learn and explore. Finding joy in various activities like running, tennis, cycling, literature, traveling, and yoga, I prioritize spending quality time with the people I love, my family, and friends. My relationships with my mother, father, two brothers, extended family, and my best friends are deeply cherished, and I hold them close to my heart.
Currently, I am completing a Bachelor's degree in Science with a specialization in Biology and a minor in Psychology at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. During my academic journey, I was honored with a $9000 grant to conduct neuroscience-based research for 12 weeks. This invaluable opportunity allowed me to delve into projects focused on non-pharmacological interventions for neurodegenerative diseases, providing care for the elderly, and conducting extensive research that honed my patience, time management skills, attentiveness to small details, and love for research. A memorable experience from this research opportunity includes attending a renowned Alzheimer’s conference in Amsterdam, followed by a beautiful journey through France, Belgium, and Italy with my brother!
My desire to become an au pair and nanny stems from my extensive experience caring for my younger (and sometimes, older) brother and five cousins, all aged 15 and below. Naturally exuding a nurturing aura, I find profound fulfillment in looking after others. As a recent graduate eager to extend my care to another family and explore the world, this opportunity aligns perfectly with my aspirations to travel and immerse myself in different cultures while nurturing my passion for childcare.
I truly understand the apprehensive feeling about finding the right nanny for their children. After all, entrusting someone else with the care of your children is a significant decision. However, I am here to assure you that my unique blend of youth, education, open-mindedness, and nurturing nature, coupled with my genuine passion for childcare, makes me not just a caregiver, but a dedicated companion and mentor for your children. With a rich background in both Canadian and Japanese cultures, I bring diverse perspectives that can deeply enrich the household environment. Furthermore, my strong academic background allows me to offer enriching experiences to your children, as I am available to tutor and engage in meaningful conversations with them. I thrive on continuous growth and maintain an unwaveringly positive outlook on life, making me an invaluable addition to any family setting.
I am confident that I am a perfect fit for this role, drawing from my extensive experience in caring for children and volunteering in hospitals and non-profit organizations. These experiences have not only taught me how to approach being a caretaker but have also enriched my understanding of compassion and empathy. Additionally, my background in academia has equipped me with essential skills in problem-solving, effective communication, and empathetic understanding, all of which are vital for providing quality child care. Furthermore, my passion for learning and dedication to personal growth ensure that I will continuously strive to provide the highest level of care and support for the children under my supervision. I am eager to bring my unique blend of compassion, empathy, and academic expertise to the dynamic role of an au pair, fostering a nurturing and supportive environment where children can thrive and flourish.
