Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Quilana, and I’m so excited at the possibility of becoming a part of your family as an Au Pair and Nanny! I’m originally from Canada, and I’m 21 years old. I come from a close-knit family and have always enjoyed spending time with children—whether it’s helping with homework, organizing fun activities, or simply sharing stories and laughs. I’m currently a full-time student in university and a part-time nanny, and I’m looking forward to this next chapter abroad.

I want to become an Au Pair because I genuinely love working with children and experiencing new cultures. Being an Au Pair is more than just a job to me—it’s a chance to build real relationships, support a family in their daily life, and learn about the world through the lens of care, trust, and mutual respect. I’m excited to help create a warm, safe, and fun environment for your children, while also growing personally and culturally through the experience.

You should host me because I am responsible, patient, and full of positive energy. I approach childcare with a balance of structure and creativity—I’m someone who loves both organizing craft projects and following bedtime routines. I understand how important it is to be dependable and communicative in a household, and I’m ready to be a team player in supporting your family’s day-to-day needs. I also bring cultural openness, language skills, and a genuine love for helping children thrive.

I qualify for this position because of my previous experience caring for children in a variety of settings, from nannying to volunteering. I am Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified in both Infant and Child CPR, and I am confident in my ability to handle day-to-day childcare responsibilities with care and maturity. More importantly, I’m kind, respectful, and eager to learn and grow as part of your family.

Thank you so much for considering me as your Au Pair! I can’t wait to hopefully get to know you and your children and start this exciting journey together.

Warm wishes,
Quilana

Experience

I have almost 10 years of experience working with children in both formal and informal settings. I’ve cared for children of various ages, from newborns to teenagers, and have supported families with everything from daily routines and school runs to meal prep, homework help, creative play, potty training, and bedtime. My experience has taught me how to be adaptable, patient, and attentive to each child’s unique needs and personality. Whether it’s calming a toddler during a tough moment or helping an older child with a school project, I always aim to be a reliable and positive presence.

What draws me to becoming an Au Pair/Nanny abroad is the opportunity to combine two things I’m truly passionate about: working with children and discovering new cultures. I believe that living with a host family and becoming part of their day-to-day life is a deeply meaningful and immersive way to grow. It’s not just about traveling—it’s about building genuine connections, contributing to a family’s well-being, and gaining new perspectives. I’m excited about the chance to support your family while also sharing parts of my own culture and learning from yours.
