Letter to the family

Hello! I'm Anni, 18. I live in Finland, in Turku. I grew up next to the sea, and don't live far from it these days.
Finnish is my first language, but I'm very good at English, using it often, and I've learned Swedish, Latin and Spanish in school, and Korean in my free time. I pick up languages quite quickly, and believe as an au pair I'd I'd learn it/improve in it I'm the best possible way.
I'm graduating from secondary high school, and before university I want to take a gap year to work, visit places and meet new people.
I'm quite laid back and always excited to learn new things.
I'd love to spend some time with a family as an au pair, and immerse myself in both a new culture and a new family! Being an au pair seems like an excellent way to get to know a new country and culture, and meet wonderful new people.
I have to admit I'm no professional, but I do have experience in babysitting and taking care of animals and houses (chores and such).

Experience

I've never been an au pair before, but honestly, it sounds like the best way to live in a new country. I enjoy being abroad, but it can be a little overwhelming when there's no other objective than being abroad. I've vacationed in plenty of countries, but the visits I've most enjoyed have been the times I've accompanied my mom on a work trip. There's been a little time for touristy activities, but the main idea has been to live in the country and do the job.

I think the best way to take in a new country, would be while being an au pair! The main focus could be taking care of children, and doing housework. Being touristy and doing other such things on the side would be fun. Also, getting to know your family would be very exciting! So to be honest, I'm most excited about meeting your family and seeing your house, and although being in a whole new country is incredible and so exciting, I kind of like when it's not the main point of my stay.
