Letter to the family

Hello, future host family!

As I am searching for my next aventure, I believe that the AuPair program could be a great choice for my future.
I was an AuPair in the US, more especifically in the Bay Area (California) for 2 years, from 2021 to 2023. I took care of 3 incredible kids and had the time of my life with my host family. This experience was beyond my expectations, as I was able to explore many parts of the country I had only dreamed of. Not only did I learn every day with the kids and the parents, but I also expanded my horizons and learned so much about life - itself and abroad. Those 2 years were truly magical and that's why I feel inspired to do it again.

I imagine how challeging it must be to search for a person to take care of your children, but being around those 3 kids and helping them bring out the best parts of themselves has taught me so much. The oportunity to take care of host kids and to be taken care of by an international host family is life-changing. That's why I believe that this next adventure is going to change my life again, and I hope it's with an incredible family as well.

- Driver's license and 2 years driving experience with children
- AuPair to 3 kids: 6, 8 and 10 years old
- Speak Portuguese (native langague), English (bilingual), Spanish and French (basic), studying Korean
- Love sports, outdoors and indoors, experience with: volleyball, swimming, rollerskating, skiing, hiking
- Degree in Psychology, further studies on Education Psychology
- English teacher to brazilian teenagers and adults
- Love traveling, visiting different cities and countries
- Learning to cook, interested in different cullinary and cultures
- Love arts, music, concerts, crochet, movies

Experience

During the 2 years of being an AuPair in the US, I built a beautiful and genuine bond with my host kids. I truly considered myself the big sister and the trust we had with each other was super important for my work as a caretaker, but also for my experience with a new family. We had incredible times together and I learned so much through them. We were able to communicate very well and the respect was mutual.
But before my adventure as an AuPair, I had worked as a babysitter for my little cousin, and also as a monitor at children's events and parties. It was so fun to hang out with kids that had no other business than to just have fun, and they were great at it. During the parties, I was responsible for keeping them safe and entertained, and in just a couple of hours we were already friends. It was a precious experience.
Overall, I always put safety first when it comes to taking care of kids. During my AuPair routine I had to drive them a lot (an average of 10 hours a week of driving) so I had to always be aware of our surroundings. I also took care of their busy schedules during school and vacation days, handling lunch boxes, drop-offs at different spots, quick pick-ups, sports, games, events, playdates, dinner preparation and homework assistance. We managed to work everything out and complete all tasks of 3 busy children. It was a blast.
