Dear Future Host Family,

I’m 28 years old and absolutely love kids. I’ve babysit for as long as I can remember - it’s always brought me joy and has taught me patience and a love of learning. Becoming an au pair has always been a dream of mine. I’ve studied French for 10 years in school and studied abroad in Geneva. I would love the opportunity to improve my language skills – improve my French skills, spend time with kids, and be immersed in a new culture.

A little bit about me: I’m the youngest of three and very close to my siblings. I recently become an aunt to my adorable nephew, August. I’m originally from Chicago, but have called Washington, DC home for the past 10 years – where I attended university and have been working in international development and global health in for the past five years. In my free time, I love to read, go on long walks, explore a new hobby (my latest is coloring), check out a new restaurant in DC, or travel. I’ve traveled a lot – whether it was around Europe for study abroad or vacation or South East Asia for work. I’ve always had a travel bug to learn about new cultures, learn new languages, and of course eat incredible food.

My childcare experience: I have babysat for over 14 years for kids between the ages of 1 month old to 12 years old, with the majority of my experience with kids ages 1-5 years old. I am a very kind, loving, patient, and energetic caregiver and love spending time with kids. In one of my past experiences, I regularly cared for a boy for two years, starting when he was 11 months old and was responsible for picking him up from daycare/school, playing games, reading, nap time, bedtime routines, diaper changes, feeding/meals, and going on adventures in the city. Throughout my time at university, I was an overnight summer camp counselor for elementary through high school kids and a reading tutor for elementary school kids.

I have experience with babysitting anywhere from 1-3 children at a time in a family. I love being a small part of the family I’m babysitting for – I like to build a rapport with the parents and any other family members.
