Dear Host Family,

First of all, I would like to thank you for your time—thank you for reading my letter!

My name is Anja Valentina, but most people call me Valentina or Vale. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but moved to Brazil when I was 3 years old due to my father’s work. I lived there until I was 14, then returned to Mexico, where I completed my middle and high school education.

Throughout middle and high school, I actively participated in multiple volunteer programs, mainly focused on education and healthcare—my two biggest passions. My true vocation, in a few words, is to help others. My parents have always taught me to support those around me, and that value is a core part of who I am. I enjoy being helpful and present for my community because I believe in treating others the way I would like to be treated.

After graduating high school and preparing to start medical school, my family moved to the United States for my father's job. I am currently pursuing a degree in Biology as a pre-med student, with the goal of entering medical school in the future here in the U.S.

If I had to describe myself in three words, they would be resilience, empathy, and discipline.

I would love to become an Au Pair because my mother was one when she was my age. She is a French teacher, and during her university years, she spent a year in Paris to practice the language and explore a new culture. I find myself in a similar place: I'm studying for the career of my dreams, but I feel a deeper calling. I would love the opportunity to help a family while living an immersive cultural experience, learning a new language, and maybe even discovering how medicine works in other parts of the world.

I believe you should choose me because I am a dedicated, values-driven person who deeply cares about community and well-being. I have extensive experience in childcare, having worked as a babysitter throughout high school and college. I also have experience in education, particularly in language instruction. I hold an impeccable work ethic, and I am certified in First Aid and Lifeguarding by the American Red Cross.

If you are looking for someone who sees childcare not just as a job, but as an opportunity to support and care for your children with respect, patience, and love—then you’ve found the right person.

I am confident that my background in childcare, education, and community service makes me a strong candidate for the Au Pair position.
