Letter to the family

Dear host family, my name is Rebecca, but I prefer to go by Becca.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a nuissance for everyone worldwide, but I will have you know that I am fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. I also wear masks and am cautious of my health.

I'm from a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am 18 years old and graduated high (secondary) school in June of 2021. Now, I live away from my family in Edmonton, Alberta. My native language is English. I would be extremely grateful if you embarked on my journey with me to Japan as an au pair, as I have a major passion for travelling.

I am qualified in Emergency & Standard First Aid & CPR C, as well as my Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross, which are assistant lifeguard certifications. As of now, I am working at North America’s largest indoor waterpark in the biggest mall in North America! Every day, I see hundreds, if not thousands, of faces and get to know a variety of different people/families. I love my job! Every day is a new adventure! I especially love getting chances to converse with the children at the park. I find children facinating; they are little humans who are magical in my eyes. They see everything in the world in more detail than we do, and in a more positive manner. Children are the peak of positivity and optimism! Every day at my job, I try to give a personal experience to every child whom I interact with. I always hope that they will remember me when they think of this waterpark. I always try to be as helpful and kind as I possibly can toward the patrons. It makes me feel so happy to think that I impacted their experience positively. This job has truly increased my fondness for children, much more than I originally anticipated. I am super excited to expand my family by joining yours!

Japan intrigues me because of the unique culture and beautiful environment. I applaud the waste system Japan holds in place, as well. I firmly believe that there are flaws in Canada's culture, and Japan excells in the areas that Canada does not. That is my biggest motivation for moving to Japan. In return, I also believe that Canada has some positive aspects, as well, that I can educate your family on.

As for the language barrier...I listed Japanese as a language that I speak, however, I currently do not speak it fluently. I have been studying and plan to continue studying until I move. At the minimum, I hope to be at a conversational level of my understanding of the language prior to my departure.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do feel free to ask me. I am a big believer in communication and honesty; I value it the most. Not to mention, I’m an open book!

I fully understand that Japan is very crowded and busy, which is a new environment that I am excited to experience.

I very much appreciate you spending the time to read my introduction letter. I do hope to hear back from you!

Many thanks, Becca.

Experience

I have never worked as an au pair before, but I am very excited to start! I have been learning about my love for children as my life continues. I want to explore that interest of mine, as it might aid in finding a career I want to persue. I have a large family and I value them a lot. I would love to grow my family bigger by making close connections with new families that I join all over the world. I don't want to be just your "employee"; I want to be an older sister to your children and a second daughter to you. I have a huge passion for travelling the globe, and I am trying to explore different career options. I think becoming an au pair will greatly benefit me in my journey. I want to learn all about Japan's culture and apply it into my daily life as I adult. I hope that it can also help to broaden my worldview, as well.
