Letter to the family

Hello and I hope you're doing well. I am from Philippines and currently working in Hongkong as a helper for a good household.

I enjoy learning skills and I got a chance to learn caregiving recently. I studied and we undergo trainings that could help me move forward as I wanted to put it into practice. I always have a soft spot for the elderly since I grew up with my grandmother back home. It's part of our culture to take care of our elderly and I believe it counts as one of my experiences in being a caregiver for the elderly. If given the opportunity, I am flexible and patient to be a caregiver for the elderly in the family. I will surely treat them with care just like my own family.

I have always enjoyed being around kids too as I was a Sunday School teacher back home. For me, it is always a joy being around children as we become a part and contribute to their growth.

Experience

I grew up with my grandmother back home. She's in her 80's now and I've seen how she got weaker as days passed by. I took breaks from work in the city to look after her. I cooked meals for her taking note of proper diets. I support her when she goes out for a walk outside. She has some stiff muscles on her legs and back so I also give massages on a daily basis. I enjoy being around elderly's for their stories and wisdom. Being a caregiver for elderly abroad might be different but it's part of learning about cultures and meeting new people. Besides the opportunity for work, It would be nice to learn new things from other culture too.

Being a Nanny, I've been taking care of my nephew from baby 'til he turn 4 years of age before I come to Hong Kong. I was left to take care of him as his parents were busy at work. The experience helped me learn to balance my full attention and being observant on how to handle kids accordingly and responsibly. It was always fun to be around kids for me.
