Letter to the family
My name is Melissa and I’m a 21-year-old History student currently studying in London. I’m on my summer break right now and looking forward to making the most of it in a meaningful and exciting way. Although I’ve loved living in London for the first two years of my degree, I was born in Switzerland and have lived here with my family my whole life. However, I went to boarding school in the UK from the age of 10, so I often feel like a happy mix of both Swiss and British with a love for both cheese and tea- but never together haha!
I speak both French and English fluently, which has given me the chance to connect with people from all walks of life. I’ve always been passionate about working with children and animals — the more, the merrier in my opinion! In fact, that’s one of the main reasons why I want to become an Au Pair. I see it as the perfect opportunity to combine my love of childcare with my desire to immerse myself in a new environment, share cultures, and create genuine bonds with a family. After just spending the last year abroad in Montreal, Canada, I realized just how much I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing life through different perspectives. Becoming an Au Pair feels like a natural next step for me — a chance to continue learning, growing, and contributing in a meaningful way.
As for why you might consider hosting me, I would bring not only my enthusiasm and responsibility, but also my warmth and creativity into your home. I am someone who truly enjoys building connections, being helpful, and ensuring that children feel safe, happy, and engaged. Whether it's through cooking fun meals, organizing creative activities, or just being a positive presence in their daily routines, I would aim to make your family life smoother and more joyful. I’m the kind of person who’s always happy to lend a hand or find a way to make the day a little more fun. Plus, my international background means I’m super adaptable and open-minded, and I’d be more than happy to help your children with their French or English if that’s something you’re looking for!
All in all, I’d be thrilled to become a part of your family for the summer and create some amazing memories together. If you have any questions at all or just want to have a little chat, feel free to message me! I try to stay as active as possible on here and would love to hear from you.
Hope to meet you soon!
