Dear Future Host Family,

I hope you and your family are doing well! My name is Jose Alfredo, but everyone calls me Fredo. I’m from California, USA, and I come from a big, loving Mexican-American family. As the oldest of four siblings, I’ve naturally taken on a caregiving role from a young age, helping raise my younger brothers and sister while my parents worked. This experience taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of creating a warm and supportive environment for children.

I want to become an au pair because I love working with kids and believe in the value of cultural exchange. I see this as a chance not only to support a family but also to immerse myself in Spanish culture, strengthen my language skills, and build meaningful connections. I want to be a positive presence in your children's lives—helping them grow, learn, and feel comfortable while also sharing my culture and experiences. If they’re interested, I’d be happy to introduce them to English in a fun and natural way, but more than anything, I want to create a safe, enjoyable, and engaging environment for them.

I have been tutoring for 4-5 years, I currently work as an English language assistant in Spain, and I also help care for a pair of 4-year-old twins. This, combined with my personal experience as an older brother, has helped me develop strong childcare skills, patience, and the ability to connect with kids of different ages.

Experience

I have always been deeply involved in childcare and education, even before considering becoming an au pair. As the oldest of four siblings, I naturally took on a caregiving role from a young age, helping to raise my younger brothers and sister while my parents worked. This experience gave me a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and an understanding of how to care for children of different ages.

Beyond my family experience, I have been tutoring for about 4-5 years, working with students of different ages and academic levels. Currently, I work as an English language assistant in Spain, teaching high school students and helping them develop their language skills through interactive lessons and cultural exchange. Additionally, I tutor a pair of 4-year-old twins, which has given me experience working with younger children, keeping them engaged, and creating a positive learning environment.

I would love to become an au pair abroad because I believe in the power of cultural exchange and learning from new experiences. Living in Spain has reinforced my passion for working with children in an international setting, and I see this as an opportunity to continue growing both personally and professionally.
