Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi,

We are a warm and welcoming family-of-four living in the Belgian/Flemish countryside.

Our house is very large and very open, we love visits and activities and it would be great to have somebody around for a while, helping us out a bit whilst enjoying life.

Our backgrounds are extremely diverse and so are our interests. We are intelligent and inquisitive people, we travel and discover, invite and invent, play and sleep in.

An au pair at our place will get a true B&B room including lots of privacy, an own bathroom and toilet, wifi, plenty of free time and all the help he/she needs to get around the country. A driver's license is a bonus. We have a spare 125cc motorcycle which can be used if the au pair's driver's license allows it.

Our house is warm and light, but it is next to a rather busy road. It is easy to get to Gent, Bruges, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, London. All within 3-4 hours by train. There is not a lot of wild nature around, but the countryside is quite lovely.

We have plenty of contacts in the larger area if need be, we would like help with the children but they are quite old so they are quite self-sufficient. But our main aim for the au pair job is having company for our youngest Jouk, to teach him some craft and music and to give rest to Lieselotte, who has been working too hard these past years and who needs to take it easy for a few months.

We will only accept like-minded au pairs, who will blend into our family without too much trouble. Having somebody in the house is quite a big thing and we would like it to be a good experience for you and for us.

Job Description

Quite simple: assist with the children. That mostly means: stuff something into their mouth when they forget to, play with them and have fun, take them to a nice spot wheather permitting.

If you want to get out for a few days: no problem, but let's communicate about it. If we want to get out for a few days with the kids and you're on your own: should be ok too.
By the way: we'll be on holidays from 23rd of July till the 11th of August. Our house could be your base camp during that period if you wish.

If you want to work more (extra) for a fee: we can talk about it.

In general: let's be open, let's be flexible and we'll get things sorted.
