Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
Dear future Au Pair,
We are looking forward to welcoming you in our family home! Our family consists of two parents, Caroline and Sander (both 43 yrs old), 3 daughters, Ymke (11 yrs old), Lara (10 yrs old) and Daphne (8 yrs old). We are all pretty easy going and try to seize the day as much as possible.
We live in a recently built home (15 years ago) just outside the city-centre of Amersfoort (5 minutes walk). Behind our garden is a residential area, where our children can play safely.
Amersfoort is an ancient, green and beautiful town precisely in the middle of the Netherlands, where you can find almost anything a big city can offer you. We live close to the train station and you can be in Amsterdam in around 40 minutes. In our house, you will have your own floor, with access to our small garden, a bathroom and kitchen.
We try to be as normal a family as possible, by enjoying the normal things in life and having a job that excites us at the same time. Sometimes the combination of us both having a busy job and being around for our kids can be quite a challenge, with which we can use your help. Especially in the early mornings, by bringing the kids to school, and taking care of them after school has ended. But also by helping with household tasks.
Sometimes between Monday to Friday Caroline will be free from work, while she's working in shifts (she's an anesthesiologist and works in a hospital). Sander is usually free in weekends, he has regular work times.
Our kids like to play outside. On several days they have sports activities. They love to draw, colourpaint, folding with sheets and play with little puppets.
On weekends we like to do fun stuff with the kids, going to the park, a themepark, a museum, going to family.
We like to go on holidays as much as possible, snow in the winter (skying and snowboarding), sun in the summer (every year a different destination). These weeks are free time for you, to travel anywhere you'd like to go.
Our cat stays inside (or in the garden). He is 16 years old and very lazy and good-natured. He certainly won't harm you.
We think your presence and help with the kids will give us more peace and quiet in the busy mornings and in busy weeks. We need somebody who is trustworthy and flexible, because some weeks (when Caroline has spare time when she's worked in weekends) we don't need much extra help, but another week we need a lot of extra help to make ends meet. We also hope to get more free time together in the evenings (or sometimes a weekendday) as a couple, to do more "outside" our home or with friends.
We like you to have a great time in our country and with our family and will help you where needed.
IMPORTANT: We are searching for an au pair who can already ride a bicycle, preferably since childhood. Household tasks are also a part of your activities. And last but not least: we're searching for an au pair who is mature, independent, a quick learner, well organized, knows her way around with cleaning (up) an folding clothes and knows how to guide older kids.
Will you be our future au pair?
