Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! We are a multinational family (UK, US, Greek and German). We speak primarily English and a bit of Greek at home.

I am separated from their father but we have an amicable relationship and coparent well and we live close to each other (about 6 minutes walk). The girls spend about 50% of the time in each home.

Our daughters are 11 and (nearly) 9. They both study at a French school in Athens so speak French. We are looking to increase their exposure and fluency in French and who would speak only French to the girls (but English to us).

We are looking for a kind, compassionate, curious, big hearted au pair to look after our girls (to improve their French, read with them, help with homework, etc, also basic meal prep, organise their schedule and basic admin for them - most of all to take good care of them and show them love and compassion!). They are kind and sweet natured (mostly!!).

We live in a suburb of Athens called Voula which is close to the sea (about 10 mins by car). The centre of Athens is about 30 - 60 mins away depending on traffic.

Greece is wonderful to explore all year round.

We have a dog (a rescue.. she barks a lot but means well) and two cats.

We have had various lovely au pairs who are now part of the family and always stay in touch with them.

We are looking for someone mainly to start from the end of July but can discuss dates earlier/after that.

Job Description

During school term time (from September) the girls are mainly home from around 3.30pm - 7/8pm (when we come home from work).

A couple more hours in the day are needed for tidying their room/toys, sorting, admin for them (organising their schedule, lessons, playdates etc.), food prep etc.

So the core hours are generally around 2pm ish to 7/8pm ish, Monday - Friday. We also appreciate flexibility in that respect to accommodate any further babysitting / other needs as they arise.

If the girls are sick or during holiday time the days may be longer (e.g. 9 am - 7/8pm). I am currently taking time off work so I'm around more so this is less essential than it has been in the past although I will be looking to go back to work probably in September.

We live in a house with lovely sea views and various balconies and a rooftop. There is access to a swimming pool. The room is small but it has AC and is hopefully comfortable enough.
