Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear au pair,

Welcome to the FUN family! A happy, friendly, relaxed kiwi family with 2 boys ages 9 & 10 years. Our kids are confident, happy boys who love to go on adventures! Our children and ourselves, enjoy spending time at the beach (where we live).

My husband and I are both teachers and business owners. We own our own nature school in a beautiful forest. This is on our property near to the house. We live in a big house on a large beachfront property and have lots of animals: chickens, ducks, piglets, cats, rabbits, and our beautiful family dog - Milo.

If you are looking to enjoy the beauty of New Zealand with a family that can show you and help you with this- in exchange for help and support around the home, then please get in touch! We are looking for a friendly, kind person to join our family. Someone who is thoughtful, caring and can use their initiative. You will not be disappointed with our family and the beautiful place we live in!

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly person to join our family. Someone who is thoughtful, caring and can use their initiative. We also need someone who can be firm with the children when necessary but kind and empathetic. You will need to help them with their homework.

We would like approx 40 hours work per week with Saturday and Sunday off. Our last Au pair had 3 days off per week so she could travel. We are happy to give you this too and can negotiate different tasks/schedules as it suits both yourself and our family.

Accommodation, food, and the use of our car is included. However, if you go away traveling in your own time, you will need to pay for your own petrol. Pocket money is NZ$200 per week.

Help will include everything that you can assist me with to make my life a bit easier! Lol! Supporting the children and playing with them as a big sister is Number 1.

Your duties would include light cleaning duties such as; folding washing, helping with dishes, cooking, baking (if you like to do that), tidying children’s bedrooms, helping the children with some of their home activities like art/crafts, playing Lego, table games, taking them to the beach and park, grocery shopping, taking them to after school clubs, homework/tutoring, fun outings to museum etc.

We are flexible but Generally, we would like you to be available 4 days per week approx 7-5pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday is your free time. (We can negotiate alternative hours and days if you want to travel or go sightseeing. Hours can easily be made up at other times.)

Tuesday - Friday is busy.
Saturday/Sunday we are VERY relaxed.
Monday is our office day so we are pretty relaxed catching up on paperwork, this day too.

A regular weekday looks like this:

6.30/7am wake and get ready
7.10 Jesse catches the bus to school
7.30 Breakfast
7.45 Feed animals
8.00 Joseph to school/Gavin & Tennille start work
8.30am-3.30pm At school/work
2.45pm Collect Joseph from school
4pm Jesse catches the bus home from school
(Sometimes it is sport or music lessons after school or if no after school activities- playtime/park/homework)
6pm Dinner
6.30 Dishes/Bath
7.00pm Games/Reading/TV
7.30 Lights out for Kids
8pm I make lunches ready for next day/laundry etc

The advantage of being our au pair is that although we have a busy job and home, we are very relaxed, down to earth people.

We are blessed to live in paradise so are really happy to be able to share this with an au pair! We are surrounded by trees and the ocean! What more could you want? We are excited to learn about another culture and have someone join our family that can be our friends for a lifetime.

Because we run our school, we have lots of connections to help you meet and socialise with other young people your age. We will always be here to help and can give you tips on where to travel. We have a car that you can use if we are not using it on the weekend. We are a really fun family ready to welcome you here to New Zealand!

Accommodation

You will have your own private room (Queen bed and sofa) at the opposite end of the house to the rest of the family. The main bathroom is shared with us. It is a big house so you will be able to have privacy when required :)
We live at the beach so morning beach walks are always waiting for you!

We live on the Hibiscus Coast, North Auckland. This is a popular coastal holiday town surrounded by beaches. We have a shopping centre just 5 minutes down the road and public transport close by too. You will have your own car too use so shouldn't need public transport.

Auckland City is about 40 minutes from our house. There is everything you need in the local village but if you enjoy big cities then it is not too far.

We are blessed to live in paradise so are really happy to be able to share this with an au pair! We are surrounded by trees and the ocean! What more could you want? We are excited to learn about another culture and have someone join our family that can be our friends for a lifetime.

We really are looking for someone who is not afraid of hard work at the busy times, can use their initiative and is kind, selfless and helpful.

We try to eat healthily and don't eat much junk food.
