We are a family that lives in Austin, Texas: Mom, Dad, 4 year old son and our big white fluffy dog.
We are looking for an energetic and caring au pair who can speak Cantonese who can engage and play with our son when he's not in school. Maintaining our son’s Cantonese speaking is very important for the family because that is the language that grandparents speak. Please do not apply unless you can speak Cantonese fluently.
We want an au pair who can talk to Callan in Cantonese every day but also help him with any schoolwork which is in Mandarin. Callan goes to Mandarin immersion school from 8:30 to 3:30 during the week and he often has classes several days a week after school (gymnastics, swimming, music) after school.
When our son is at school, the au pair can tidy his room, do laundry, and help feed the dog. The ideal au pair will be proactive and learns quickly, pays attention to details, is patient and kind, is naturally organized and very clean, and enjoys playing with children and encouraging their imagination.
The typical workweek would be 40-45 hours per week.
We live in Austin, Texas, one of the larger cities in Texas. Austin is a very diverse and safe city that sits right on a lake and river. It is known for its great food, music and festivals. It also has several top educational institutions such as University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, and St Edwards University. These are all within a short drive (5 minutes to 15 minutes) from our house.
We live a 10 minute drive away from downtown in a quiet residential neighborhood, but within a 15 minute walk to a small commercial area with coffee shops, grocery stores and other businesses. We live in a newly constructed large home where the au pair will have her own bedroom and bathroom.
