Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair, We are an American-German family in Switzerland looking for an au pair or live-in nanny. We live in a very international medium-sized city just on the border with France and Germany and with very good public transportation. The language school is a 10-15 minute walk, and in less than 20 minutes you can arrive at the train station, an ice rink, a climbing hall, many parks, restaurants, bars, the cinema, the library, lovely outdoor swimming pools, the forest, the river, or the historical city center.

We have already hosted four au pairs over the past 8 years. We love having a young person around to help out, and we love showing our au pairs Swiss life. We are looking for an independent young woman who would like to experience Switzerland for at least one school year.

Job Description

Our kids are not babies anymore, and they are at school many hours each day. We also have a house cleaner who comes every week. So we are looking for an au pair to help with cooking dinner, running errands, bringing the kids to/from activities, and sometimes babysitting. We mainly need help 12:00-18:00 weekdays. You will have most weekends free, and 4 weeks of paid vacation, as well as other benefits. There is a decent au pair community in Basel that you can connect with.

Accommodation

You will have your own room on the top floor of our home, sharing a bathroom with the older two kids. Your room has a window, darkening shade, air conditioning, heat, a double bed, a piano, a dresser, lamps, etc. We have wifi in the house, a bike you can borrow, and in the basement we have a room where you can work out if you like sport.
