We are a family of four and we have been hosting an au pair from Vermont (USA) since June 2023. Our two daughters are 2 and 5 years old. The younger daughter attends a daycare center, the older daughter goes to kindergarten. Both daughters are very active, have a wide range of interests and enjoy reading books, painting and doing crafts. The older daughter speaks English fluently. We have been a couple for over 20 years and married for over 10 years. We both work reduced hours (80%) and can also work from home. We live in our own house with 6.5 rooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 guest toilet. It's a quiet area but only 10 minutes from the old town/city center.

Basel is the second largest city in Switzerland and is centrally located in Europe and serves as the best starting point for many short trips in Europe. It is a very old, historic city, with many attractions and museums. But Basel is also a modern and, thanks to its many companies, an international and important city in Switzerland. There are countless leisure options, cafes and restaurants.

We value healthy food and mainly buy local organic products.

Distance to the city center is 10 minutes. There are many language schools in Basel. We are very well connected to public transport (bus or tram are 1-2 minutes away). Basel has an international airport from which you can reach all major cities in Europe. You can get to Paris or Milan in 3 hours by train. It takes 1.5 hours to get to the Alps. Basel is very international and multicultural. There are many au pairs and an active au pair community. There are countless museums and sights in Basel.

The au pair receives a salary of 600 CHF per month. In addition, the au pair receives the costs of public transport, health and accident insurance, language courses and a mobile phone. We also cover travel costs and taxes.
