Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are looking for an Aupair who wants to join our family, experience the Berlin life and is eager to get to know a new culture. We are looking for someone who loves kids, is creative in playing with our kids and responsible, reliable and mature enough to take on the responsibility of taking very good care of them when we are not around. Mutual trust in each other is the most important criteria for us.

Job Description

##already 3 years of excellence Aupair experience"

What we use to do in our free time:
In our free time we love to cook together (and are excited to taste your countries dishes), meet friends, and chill (as we have highly demanding jobs, we are happy to take it a bit slower in our private lifes). Henri, Marie and Nike are very vidid children, most happiest out in parks and among other children.

Our daily routine:
A “normal” day during the week looks like this: 6.30 alarm is ringing or kids wake up by themselves; 7am breakfast; 7.30am Henri goes to school, 8.15am Marie and Nike go to Kita, Sophie is working some days from home some does in the hospital (leaves house at 7.15am, comes back 7pm). Paul travels to Hamburg via train (1.5hours) from Tuesday to Thursday and Sophie goes by bike or metro to her office at the Charité Hospital. 3/3.30pm picking up kids at kita, maybe playground or sports activity, 6pm dinner (usually we cook for lunch and have a typical german “cold meal” in the evening), bathing, book reading with kids, bedtime around 7.30/8pm; after that Paul and Sophie work from home or spend time reading in the living room.
At the weekend we use to have breakfast later, sometimes Sophie has to work in the hospital at the weekend. We love to cook, meet friends and make excursions.

Duties and conditions:
A “normal” week for you would look like the following:
- 7.00-8.45 Help in the morning routine: Having breakfast together, dressing kids, 3-5x/week bringing kids to daycare (walking distance 800m). Helping placing the dishes on the table and to the dishwasher/freezer thereafter. Usually in the mornings at least one of us (Paul/Sophie) is present as well.
- Picking-up kids from kita (daycare) (around 3-4pm) 3-5 days a week and spending the afternoon and evening with them until 7.30 pm. We will have family dinner usually together around 6.30pm.
- If we have evening events, babysitting in the evenings (you will always have at least 4-5 nights off a week). Our kids are “good slepper”.
- Sometimes at the weekend taking care of kids for a couple of hours (but most of the weekends we take care for the kids by ourself)
- Playing with kids, cooking for them, bathing them, keeping their room organized
- Light household chores (e.g. emptying dish washer, folding washed cloth) (for the normal cleaning we have a cleaning lady 1x/week)
In case when the kids are sick, then you might need to stay with them during the day, when we cannot get out of work.
We always try to create a timetable for the whole 1-2 weeks in advance so that you can better plan your free time.
We already have Au-pair experience (male and female with excellent relationships) and If you want you can talk to our current and former Au-pair to get some insights how it is living with us.
We offer you to attend language courses, there are a couple of schools close by and former aupairs had good experiences their.
As you will live separate from us you will have enough time for yourself and to relax; living together with two other german young women can be a great opportunity for you to have contacts and create friendships.
At the weekends we sometimes go to our house at the lakefront close by Berlin, you are always welcome to join us and enjoy nature.

What you should know:
We will support you wherever we can so that you can enjoy Berlin to the fullest and have your own social life. However, it should not intervene with your responsibilities of taking care of our kids (e.g. „too drunk to take care of kids the next day“ is a no go :-) and constantly being on the smartphone while watching the kids neither).

If you feel, you would fit into our family, we are happy to have a first meeting via skype/facetime.
Looking forward to it!
