Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello and Willkommen!

We’re so happy you’re considering joining our family as our Au Pair! Let us introduce ourselves:

We are a small, warm-hearted family of three, living in a peaceful and safe residential area in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, West Berlin. Our daughter, Pina, is 18 months old and full of curiosity and joy—she’s sure to bring a smile to your face every day!

Our home is clean, cozy, and located near a lovely park, perfect for strolls or relaxing afternoons. You’ll have your own private room with an attached bathroom to make you feel right at home.

Cäcilie works for a Danish podcasting platform, while Finn works at an investment firm specializing in startups. Both of us have had the wonderful opportunity to live, study, and work abroad in countries like the U.S., the Netherlands, and South Africa. We love learning about new cultures and languages and hope to share this passion with you!

We are a multilingual household, speaking German, English, and French fluently, and we also dabble in Spanish and Dutch. Pina is already embracing new cultures—she attends a Spanish-speaking kindergarten just across the street.

Our family values are at the heart of how we live and interact. We believe in openness, transparency, curiosity, tolerance, and clear communication. We strive for personal growth and encourage taking responsibility for the group to create a supportive and harmonious home environment. These values guide us in everything we do and are important to us in welcoming you into our family.

We’re looking for someone who loves children, is curious about different cultures, and is excited to be part of our daily lives. In return, we’ll do our best to make your time with us a fulfilling, fun, and memorable experience.

We can’t wait to hear from you and learn more about you! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,
Cäcilie, Finn, and little Pina

Job Description

In our family, mornings start with getting Pina ready for her day at daycare, which is conveniently located just across the street from our home. While Pina is at daycare from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, there’s time for other tasks or personal free time, depending on the day’s needs. Afternoons are usually spent playing with Pina on the nearby playgrounds, reading books, or engaging in creative activities at home.

Evenings are a mix of family time and preparing for the next day. We value structure and routine but also love to be flexible and spontaneous, especially on weekends.

Your Role
Your main responsibility will be taking care of Pina, so being comfortable with a young toddler is essential. If you have prior experience with toddlers, that’s a big plus!

Your tasks will include:

Morning routine: Helping Pina get ready and taking her to daycare across the streat.

Afternoon care: Picking Pina up at 2:30 pm and spending quality time with her. This might involve playing on the nearby playgrounds, doing fun activities, or simply keeping her engaged and happy.

Meal preparation: Preparing simple meals for Pina and occasionally for the family.

Grocery shopping: Picking up groceries from the local supermarket as needed.

Household help: Light cleaning tasks, laundry, and keeping things tidy, especially managing the inevitable little messes a toddler makes.

We’re looking for someone who can approach these responsibilities with a caring, positive, and proactive attitude. We value open communication and will always support you in your role to ensure you feel comfortable and appreciated.

Let us know if there’s anything you’d like to clarify—we’re here to help!
