Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair,

We are a young family with 2 little boys (Émile, 2 years old) and Gabriel (5 months old).
Raphael, the dad is from France and Chloé, the mother, is from Luxembourg and we speak French at home but also a bit of English and Chloé is also fluent in German.

We live in Berlin, just at the limit of the city, in the North. Our area is quite international and not the most popular area but within a 10 minute walk you can be in a much nicer area with more coffee shops and restaurants.

Even if our street is not the best, we are very well connected (metro, bus and tram) and you can get anywhere in the city within 30-45 minutes or a shorter bike ride.

Émile goes to kindergarden for most of the day, Gabriel is still at home with his mother and Raphael will soon start to work.

We really would like to welcome an Au Pair into our family to be able to get some help with Gabriel during the day, with Émile after the kindergarden and during dinner time and some help with cooking and folding the laundry and some light house cleaning duties. :) These would be the main tasks for you.

We would love to welcome someone who likes to exchange about what she/ he loves and likes to laugh and share meals together and would like to be an integral part of the family.

We love Berlin and would be excited to share the nice sides of the city with you and make sure you feel at home.

Job Description

Suggested tasks/ responsibilities:
~30 hours/ week, 6 hours on weekdays but with some flexibility to exchange some weekdays with a weekend-day

Childcare: play with Émile, take him to the playground or other activity like the museum, prep his dinner, put his pyjamas on, change his diaper, give him a bath

Kitchen & cooking: I would love to give you more responsibility there if you wish given your experience and we could be your team to execute (i.e. help do the chopping and peeling) but you could take the lead in suggesting recipes but otherwise cooking a meal 1-2/ week minimum.

Fold clothes

Clean apartment (but always together with us and we divide the tasks)

Go grocery shopping (if something is missing because usually Raphael does the big shopping with the car)

Any other tasks related to organising our home (e.g think through with us how to better equip and organise the kitchen, sort out the clothes of the kids together with me…)

Accommodation

You would have quite a large bedroom that has a mezzanine and enough space for a sofa, a small desk and a bigger desk (so your own little living room). You would have to share a bathroom, but we have 2 bathrooms in the apartment (and 2 toilets) but we all use the 2 bathrooms, so there is always a shower available.
