Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Welcome to our family's page! We are a friendly, busy family with two active and bright boys (2 and 5) who attend an outdoor Montessori nursery part-time. We're hoping to find a caring, responsible, and energetic au pair to join us in the Scottish countryside.

We live in a beautiful area of the UK, in a tiny friendly village in "sunny" Scotland. We are happy to tell you more about it and answer any questions. We live in a small village half way between Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, but we are within driving distance of Livingston (20min), which has the largest outlet shopping mall in Scotland, Lanark (15min), Edinburgh (40min), Glasgow (40min). We are within a 10-minute drive of two train stations (Breich and Carstairs Junction) which have regular services to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh. We are both well traveled and have friends in many countries; we think we are well placed to help someone learn and improve their English.

Ideally we are looking for an au pair who can drive with experience and is older than 25 and younger than 30, however we are flexible on ages. You will have experience, like being with and looking after toddlers/children; be proactive in thinking up, scheduling, and arranging activites which are age appropriate for both Amos and Asher, and have the required enthusiasm and energy to be able to be responsible for children.

Accommodation

We bought a beautiful five-bedroom detached house in a small village close to Lanark at the end of the first lockdown; it's quite a large house and a little deceptive from the outside, we call it the "Tardis," after some work it now has 6 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen/diningroom, utility room, and a home office. We have allocated one of the bedrooms to our au pair; it's a large room, with a double bed, its own TV, desk, and wardrobe.

As stated previously we have quite an exciting little start up and will be travelling a fair bit for it in the near future. Travel will be expected and comes with extra pocket money.

What we can also promise is that we will be able to teach you English to a high standard, and help you acclimate to the UK (even if that means moving on from us once you are settled). We have hosted four au pairs from Ukraine plus a few from other countries (Austria, Hungary, Italy) and they are happy to chat about their experiences.
