Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Originally translated from Deutsch
Dear au pair,

We are now looking for an au pair for our German-Russian family (consisting of mom, dad, daughter and son).

My wife Julia is the Russian part of our family and mostly speaks Russian with the children. I have also had Russian lessons, but I still have problems speaking Russian fluently. We currently live alternately in Russia and Germany. Our children are growing up bilingual.

My wife is the owner of a travel agency for German-speaking tourists in Moscow (www.iwir.de and www.iwir.ru) and speaks fluent German and English in addition to Russian.

I am an insurance salesman and have an insurance office in Germany. Both Julia and I can work from virtually anywhere in the world.

Our daughter Katharina is 6 years old and switches fluently between German and Russian.

Our son Maximilian is 4 years old.

Both children go to kindergarten in Germany Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (Fridays only until 2:00 p.m.).

When we are in Moscow, our children also go to a private kindergarten there.

We travel a lot and we are looking for an au pair who also wants to discover the world.

Our au pairs have been with us to Dubai, for example.

Your age is irrelevant to us (as long as you are within the age range for the au pair program). It is important to us that you are ready to work and reliable and that you want to be part of our family!

It is also important that you have no problem being in Moscow more often. We have an apartment there and you have your own room there too. The temporary stay in our rural home in East Westphalia should not put you off either.

Health insurance and language courses as well as pocket money are a given!

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes from Germany

Stefan

Addition:
Good language skills, including in Russian, are very desirable.
It is also necessary that the au pair comes from a country whose citizens do not need a visa for Russia.

Job Description

Our experience report:
The annual period for our au pair from Tajikistan ended on December 19, 2023. After we had bad luck with a girl from Kyrgyzstan three years ago (she didn't even want to be an au pair) and our next au pair from Tajikistan accepted a vacant voluntary social year position after just 7 months, we were under no illusions. What can we say now? We were absolutely lucky. Our au pair has become an integral part of our family. She is 100% reliable. We never set a stop watch and luckily neither did our au pair. As a fully integrated family member, time would have been difficult to define. Our au pair was always by our side, even if the vacation quickly cost twice as much (because she needed her own room, of course). We paid for our au pair to take very good online German courses (currently 1.5 hours three times a week). She is constantly learning, even though she speaks perfect Russian in addition to Farsi and our children also speak Russian. Without an FSJ, she is now starting her training as a "health care worker" on February 1st. She is completing her training around 150 km away from us, as she will be sharing a flat with her sister there. She was also an au pair before and is now doing an FSJ there to train as a "dental assistant". Both great girls. Both very determined. By the way: even though she is a practicing Muslim and we are Christians, everything went smoothly (even swimming in a burkini).
We waited a long time for the next girl, only to accept her wish to return to her mother in Tajikistan after just two months.
About us again: we are a German-Russian family and (still) commute back and forth between two places of residence - Siddessen in East Westphalia with fewer than 500 inhabitants and Moscow in Russia with more than 15 million inhabitants. Our children are 3 and 5 years old and are currently attending the German daycare center. In August 2024 our daughter will already be starting primary school. We have not yet made a final decision as to whether we really want to send her to school in Germany or whether we will choose the German school in Moscow a year later (there are different school entry ages). My wife runs a travel agency in Moscow and I run an insurance office in Siddessen.
If you can also imagine being part of our family for a year, we look forward to your "application".
You should come from the CIS countries and speak good Russian. We look forward to your message.
Greetings from Siddessen!
