Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Originally translated from Deutsch
Hello dear au pair, welcome to our profile page!

My daughter Cosima was born in December 2019 and will be 5 years old in a few days. She is an only child. She goes to kindergarten Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Cosima and I live in Braunschweig. Braunschweig is a beautiful medium-sized city in the northern part of Germany. Around 250,000 people live here. The city has many historic buildings and parks. A river also flows through Braunschweig. Braunschweig is a university city. The state capital Hanover can be reached by train in an hour. Hamburg in around 2.5 hours and Berlin in 1.5 hours. There are many shops, restaurants and bars in Braunschweig. Our apartment is in the most beautiful location in Braunschweig. In 5 minutes you are in a beautiful park and it is only a 10-minute walk to the city. You can reach many things on foot, but there is also a very good network of public transport and you cycle a lot.
We live in a very nice 4-room maisonette apartment on the top floor of a turn-of-the-century house with a very large roof terrace. The au pair room is on the first floor of the apartment. It is not very big, but pretty, freshly renovated and with new furniture. We have a large open kitchen and a large living room on the 2nd floor with access to the terrace. My daughter has her own room, but still sleeps with me. The bathroom is spacious with a bathtub, and we also have a guest toilet.

As I work full-time and next year will be challenging for me, I need the support of a loving, reliable, flexible, child- and animal-loving au pair. I would be very happy to receive applicants from Latin America, but I am also open to other regions of the world.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Best wishes,
Kersten and Cosima

Job Description

Originally translated from Deutsch
Cosima is in kindergarten from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. (sometimes from 7 a.m.) to 4 p.m. The au pair does not have to take Cosima to kindergarten every day, but alternates with me. Since I work 1-2 days from home, these days are more relaxed and Cosima can sleep a little longer. It is important to me that Cosima is picked up from kindergarten. My appointments often go longer and I have later appointments at my workplace in Wolfsburg. In the afternoon, Cosima has so far gone to gymnastics and music lessons, and may soon go to ballet. I need the au pair's support here. The au pair will normally work a few hours per week, but it is important to me that the au pair is flexible. For example, if I have to work a little longer, the kindergarten is closed for a few days or Cosima is sick. So every now and then the au pair would have to work the whole day. I will definitely pay attention to the number of hours per week/month. Every now and then I will also have to travel for a few days in a row next year. But here too we will certainly find a solution together. The au pair will generally have the weekends free (I might want to go for a quick jog now and then). The au pair will be part of the family, so there will be no "crazy tasks" in housework. The normal interaction such as vacuuming, loading and unloading the dishwasher, taking out the rubbish, etc.). Possibly occasional shopping at the supermarket.

Accommodation

Originally translated from Deutsch
The room is not very big, but it is freshly renovated, bright and friendly with new furniture. A comfortable large bed, a large chest of drawers and I would like to add a small desk and an armchair. The au pair can also make themselves comfortable in the kitchen-diner, in the living room or on the terrace in summer. The three of us use the bathroom together. It is large with a window and bathtub. There is also a guest toilet.
