Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Originally translated from Deutsch
Hello and welcome to our profile.

We are a German family and currently live in Bremen.
We have a beautiful daughter who was born in 2018 and needs a lot of attention, we are proud parents of a son who saw the light of day in 2021.

Since we are full-time employees, we need childcare and household support. We have options from the federal government for this, but we would like to give YOU the chance to join our fun and energetic family.

Your checklist of what you need to join our family:
- We want you to stay for 12 months
- You speak German at Goethe level B1
- You are NOT RELIGIOUS or religion is not important to you at all
- You were neither in prison nor had you had contact with suspicious people
- You do not smoke
- You agree to an extended drug test (it will take place in Germany and we will pay for it)
- You really enjoy doing household chores

You should like the German language! It is not necessary to speak them particularly well at the beginning of your application process. But as soon as you start your au pair time in Germany, you should at least have the Goethe certificate B1 or be an English native speaker (here at least German A1 <- legal requirement).
The reason is, on the one hand, that the German authorities want you to be able to speak German when you apply and only come to a German-speaking family anyway. And that we have to communicate with you and explain to you how life works in Germany and with our children is also very important. And of course for emergencies, if you have to call a doctor ... but they no longer speak German and English on the hotline. And most people in Germany are too lazy to speak a foreign language anyway and prefer German. : D

My wife and I both speak Standard German, which means German standard without local slang. Also, I speak English fluently and my wife speaks English, French and a little bit of Hungarian.
We would only talk to you in German, if necessary communicate here and there in English for a better understanding. If, in return, you could teach our children the English language, that would be perfect. :)

Some interesting facts that you may not yet know when it comes to AuPair in Germany:

- In Germany you can only be an au pair once in your life.
- The legally prescribed minimum time for German au pairs is 6 months and no longer than 12 months (unfortunately there are no exceptions).
- Age restriction:
Non-EU citizens: 18-26 (27)
You must be between 18 and 26 years of age or younger on the day you submit your application to the authorities. But you can be 27 on the day of arrival (i.e. the beginning of the au pair year).

EU citizens: 16-26 (30)
If you come from the EU or an EEA country including Switzerland, you can even be between 16 and 26 years old (or 27 when you arrive). If you come from the old EU countries (plus including Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein), you can also be 30 years old.

: D: D Haha Sounds difficult right? Just ask us if you have any questions. We will then find out together what you need to know.

Aside from that:
- We pay for language courses for you and help you get there.
- You will have free health and accident insurance during your stay, which will be paid for by us.

You can rely on us to support you in everything and to treat you like our own daughter. <3
Of course, this also includes helping you with your personal future plans, if you want. Because life can be tough and challenging at times and we all need a helping hand from time to time. :)

We wish all of you a happy and fun year for your au pair time and look forward to hearing from you.

All the best

Gert, Patricia with her two cute children <3

Job Description

I am a flight captain myself, while my wife is a medical student in her final year at the university and is now doing her practical studies in the hospital.
You should be ready to join our family and help us with childcare and household chores.
We have experience with "bling bling" - women who do not want to work, but take care of their appearance all day long. Or they just want to have the opportunity to come to Germany in order to look for another job here or apply for a residence permit. This is a no-go for us and we will have to terminate the contract accordingly if this situation arises.
We would just love to lead a harmonious family life with you and exchange a lot of experiences and experiences. :)
