Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

CORONA-UPDATE: As borders are still closed and Visa can be expect not to give to foreigners to join the Aupair Program, we extend our joining date accordingly to give YOU the chance of joining our family. From now on the latest starting date is not march but September 2021.

Hello and welcome to our Profile.

We are a German family living currently in Bremen. We have one beautiful daughter born in 2018 with us and expect our second Child end of Feb 2021.

As we are full time worker we need some support for childcare and doing the household. We do have opportunities from the German government for all that but we want to give YOU the chance to join our funny and energetic family.

Your Checklist what you need to have before joining our Family:
- you speak German on Goethe Level B1
- you are not religious or Religion is not important at all for you
- you have not been in prison nor contact to suspicious people
- you don't smoke
- you agree to do a extended drug test (will take place in Germany and we pay for it)
- you like to work in the household

You should like the german language! It is not necessary to speak it very well in the beginning of your application process. But as soon as you start your Aupair time in Germany you should bring at least Goethe certificate B1 with you or be an english native speaker.
The reason is on one side that the german authority wants you only to come into a german speaking family. And that we need to communicate with you and explain you how the life works in Germany and with our child. And of course in case for an emergency if you have to call a doctor...they speak German and English on the Hotline and thats it. But most of the people are lazy in speaking a foreign language and they prefer German.

We both speak Hochdeutsch which means German Standard with no local slang. Additionally I speak English fluently and my wife speaks English, french and a bit of hungarian.

Some interesting facts what you maybe don't know about being an Aupair in Germany:

- You can be an aupair only once in your life time in the republic of Germany.
- The minimum time for German aupairs by law is 6 month and not longer than 12 month (doesn't matter where you come from).
- Age restriction:
Non EU citizen: on the day of application with the authorities you must between 18 and 26 years of age or younger. But you can be 27 when aupair year starts.

If you are from the EU or any EEA countries including Switzerland than you can be 17 years old until 26 years (27). If you are from the old EU countries (Plus inclusive Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) you can be also 30 years of age.
Haha Sounds difficult? Ask us in case of any questions. We will find out what is necessary for you to know.

- We pay for you language classes and support you with transportation.
- You will have free health and accident insurance paid by us.

You can count on us that we support you with anything and treat you like our own daughter. <3
This includes also to help you with your personal future plans if you like. Life can be hard and challenging and all of us need a helping Hand from time to time.

For your aupair time we all want a happy and funny time and looking forward to hear from you.

All the best

Gert, Patricia and Paulina
