Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Future au pair,

I think you will love Bristol, it is a vibrant city, with lots to do and see- we live just under the university of the west of england(UWE frenchay campus) and there is a fantastic 30 min bus service into the city centre as well as a train station which goes to the city centre or London/ rest of uk in walking distance. Bristol is also a very cycle friendly city and most places can be cycled to- a thing we hold close as we cycle the children to and from nursery and beyond.

Where we live there is plenty of green/ forests and rivers to walk and run, as well as shopping and the city centre close with cool bars and cafes etc. There is a great cafe just a short cycle/ walk from our house ( The Boston tea party). We also live near UWE which means there are young people to meet.

Job Description

We expect reliability, respect and responsibility... and after that hope to have a fantastic relationship and fun.

Obviously we want to spend as much time with our children as possible, but due to work and commuting we need help.

The children are in nursery Mon- Thursday all day. I (Georgie) am off of Fridays.

The job will entail drop off and pick ups from nursery ( 7.30 or later drop offs , 16.30 pick ups) when we are unable- for a maximum of Mon- Thursday, but usually probably two days a week. ( The kids and I are at home on Fridays and the weekend ). There may be the odd overnight care if we are back late / night shifts. There will be 1 night of babysitting each week maximum ( likely a night you would be in anyway).

We would expect help with housework to keep the house clean, and cooking for the children when looking after them, and together with us, but that can be worked out.

Our house is quiet after the children are in bed, we need to go to bed early as the children wake early and we work hard. We do not really drink alcohol ( occasionally with meals) . We are an early rising family!

A key asset is being able to bike well- we have a babboe cargo bike which all of the children can fit in and this is a key way we pick up and drop off. ( it has electric assist!).

Fitness is also key in our family and we would hope it would be something you enjoy too.
