Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi there. We are a family of four. My name is Richard, I work in advertising and am based in London 3-4 days per week. My wife is called Georgina and is a lawyer, also based in London 3-4 days per week. We have 4 year old twins, one boy, one girl. The kids will be starting school in September 2025.

Job Description

We would like someone to get the kids dressed and ready for school each morning - so taking over from us at 7am - and then dropping them off at school (5 minute drive). We would like them collected at 3pm and then have their dinner made and get them ready for bed, we will be back at 7pm to take over. This would be four days per week - Tuesday to Friday. At least one day per week it would be good to have babysitting so we can stay out in London (probably each Thursday, paid a bit extra for the hours). The job would equate to roughly 26 hours per week without any babysitting added on. We would pay the Au Pair the UK's national living wage, with a deduction of £9.99 per day to offset the accommodation we provide (as stipulated by the UK government).

Accommodation

We have a 3 storey townhouse with a double room with wardrobe on the top floor. No one else sleeps on the top floor so it is quite private. I have an office up there that I will use 2-3 days per week. There is a family size bathroom that would be given to the Au Pair exclusively (so a private bathroom).

We live in a town called Burgess Hill, it is a relatively quiet town set in the Sussex countryside. It has all major amenities but limited 'night life'. The town is, however, very well connected to the bigger cities. It is a 50 minute direct train into central London (trains are every 10 minutes at peak times and at least 3 times per hour outside of peak). It is also just a 15 minute train into Brighton, our closest big city, which also has plenty to do. For those that like the countryside, we are within the Sussex Downs area and surrounded by lots of countryside with plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities, historical sites as well as some lovely villages and pubs nearby.
